I haven't seen either but Foxcatcher is on my list. I liked some of the Oscar nominated movies this year. Whiplash was pretty good, so was Birdman and Grand Budapest Hotel. I don't really care about Boyhood.
Hit or miss. Oscars don't go to the best movies, they go firstly to movies that toe the Hollywood political line the best, or lacking any of those, movies that pander to or bribe enough Academy seats. The Academy Awards is one giant Hollywood circle jerk.
I haven't watched those two. Anyway, sometimes I like the Oscar winner (like this year, although my fav was Grand Budapest Hotel), sometimes I hate it. Critics in general (good or bad), awards, etc. don't influence my opinion.
