Okay, i've always wondered with why some people are soo much into Photography. They carry those big bloody cameras all around, snapping pictures here and there...

I'm wondering whether it has some correlation with MBTI type. May be due to the dominant of certain functions

If you like photography, tell me you MBTI type and why you like it!

Thanks!

I love photography, and I'm an ISTJ. It lets me partake in my great love, composition, without dealing with my devil, proportion (or really, scaling). Although, the one thing about photography, is that you pretty much have to work with what you got. No cutting out telephone poles in the middleground with photography.

I like photography. It allows me to share the fantastic things that I see everyday or even those ordinary things with lots of people and is easier than having to describe everything with words.
I am an esfp or an isfp or an estp, depending on the test.

From an ISTJ to an ESFP... seems like photography is well rounded hobby!

But what aspect of photography do you like?
For ISTJ, is it because of the burning desire to keep a piece of memory?
Fro ESFP, is it because of your appeciation to fine art
And have you been consistent with this hobby?

I'm sure there are some NPs who jump into this hobby (Impulsively) and then abandon it after a few months...

This ENFP is picking up on a pattern. It would probably do you well to cut it out.

As for photography, it is one of my favorite hobbies. Beauty is everywhere, and capturing the beauty when I'm in the moment is a wonderful feeling. I look back at the photos over time, and I remember exactly how I was feeling the day that the photo was taken, and I'm overjoyed. I don't do it very often because I don't want memories running together. I save it for rare occasions.

Ah, me too. I've been into photography since elementary school, an no , i didn't abandon it like the poster suggested above. ENFP like all NF's can stick with things we're passionate about, interested in. I have loads of albums, scrapbooks . I take photos of everything, i love mostly B/W. I love to edit and play with them on photo-shop in order to get the best lighting. I'm not a pro by all means, although its something i will be interested in always :)

Yea I mean its like asking which type makes the best musicians? Any type could for very different reasons. A jazz musician might be a Ne-type an orchestral musician might be a Si-type but both are exceptional. I think Wynton Marsalis and John Williams are Ni-types.

I think the better question here is whether there is a correlation between styles of photography and type. Like maybe Si-doms or intuitives prefer more abstract or impressionistic photography than realism. Or maybe its the other way around, maybe its Se-doms who strive to create impressionism as a way of expressing the side of them that isn't so concrete. That to me is the more interesting study. Someone like Monet or Carvaggio may have very well been Se-doms with their intense attention to detail and light, yet their product is impressionistic.

Ah, nah. Photographs can help me remember experiences, but that isn't the reason why I take them. I can't really pinpoint why I like photographs, but it's more for the image than for any "side effects".

As for consistency, not terribly consistent, no. Like almost all my hobbies, I cycle between interest and disinterest. If I'm traveling? 100% interest. Otherwise, it varies. Usually I want to take pictures more when there is free time (like the holidays) and it looks good outside (nature is my thing). Crisp spring morning with lots of birds and gentle overcast makes me much more inclined to take pictures than a absolutely clear, burning summer day with no life outside.

I like my focus exact. If it is supposed to be sharp, it must be sharp, or I don't want the picture. If it's supposed to be blurred, it needs to be so. I don't think I could live without manual focus.

I love photography. Just started majoring in it. I really cant wait to have this as career and travel places. It's creative and fun coming up with new ideas. And even developing film. it's peaceful.

Ah, I misread it as pornography upon initial glance but then realized they're basically the same thing.

So in response, yes.
