If money was no issue, what project would you start up?

For instance, I'd go for a MMO that doesn't suck, or trying to develop functioning mechs, it would be an iterative process, but still, it needs to happen.

"an MMO that doesn't suck"

You do realize all of game design is opinion based right? Your version of a perfect MMO would be hated by other people most likely.
If money was not an issue, I'd build a water powered car and mass produce it from Africa and make the world my eco friendly bitch... then attempt to resurrect dinosaurs using dna cloning like jurrasic park
I would create a program that could accurately understand and generate speech and simulate multiple personalities in an effort to create a virtual world where one could actually interact with the characters there-in instead of being forced to choose from pre-scripted dialogue options. The ultimate goal would be to play a game of D&D with an artificial intelligence acting as the DM (and hoping it doesn't eventually turn into an AM).

I would research the perfect toilet architecture, so that dust doesn't collect, and that there will no longer be an argument between a man and a woman over how the seat should be left after use.

Yes, you could say that I have a dream.

But actually, currently my wish would be to further develop the ability of algorithms to handle linguistics. I would find it fascinating to then analyze famous peoples' writings and use that to figure out when they were undergoing periods of mental illness. Or use it as a potential diagnostic tool by analyzing differences in a person's writing style. That, or work on a new political-economic theory. Or education reform. Oh, this list is growing. Whoops
Same here, I'd love to create the best MMO ever too. If not I'd like to get involved on politics and create a non-ideological party, I'd hire the best economists and experts and save my country of corruption and State leechers.
Changing the people is an unreachable goal, I would probably show the people that money has no value by burning them all in my garden grill party.

Or I would develop self sustaining community(something like Venus project), to kick the ass of current establishment, government system¨and corporatism, when the people would see the alternative they would probably wake up...
Well two scenarios here: 1) You're given $10 million. 2) You're given, literally unlimited cash.

1) I would start my own business and begin investments to allow it to grow. This wouldn't be an issue and I could probably invest $2 million into my own business, and in the first year make it back. The long term goal would to be reach what I would do in scenario number 2:

2) I would create a self sustainable system of various charities. (The money they spend would be equalled by their intake/cash flow.) I would seek to own two countries to use as political experiments; one could be run by the best democratic minds of the world, and implement whatever system the wish to. The other would be the best libertarian minds of the world, and they could run however they wish to. After that, I would buy the U.S. Next, I would buy China. Lastly, I would buy the Solar System and begin setting up mining projects on all non gas planets. Then I'd start setting up Star Gates.

On the side of #2, I'd have people start researching immortality for me so I could live longer.
I'd build the U.S.S. Enterprise and get the hell away from this crazy ass planet. :kitteh:
Interplanetary travel.
Some kind of philanthropic venture would be the most rewarding. But if some one gave me millions in cash i'm not so sure that philanthropic notions would be screaming out at me. Research needed.

Great question.
International interpretation ear-peace... but I'm sure they have an ap. for that instead. Damn my dreams.
I would found a new country. In the sky. And call it Columbia.

But no, really, I would buy Greece, or construct an immense platform in the middle of the Atlantic, and found the Republic of Alexandria. At first a benevolent dictatorship, we would eventually progress towards a more permanent system of minarchist government. I would send out loyal supporters to all corners of the world, where they would recruit others both to populate and to further spread the news of Alexandria. Due to limited living space immigration would be extremely selective, but that is where the second part of the project comes in.

Our international support would grow in size and power until, inspired by our promise of near-absolute freedom and disillusioned with the state of affairs in their home countries, the governments of the major world powers are overthrown and become part of Alexandria. From there it would be relatively easy to annex the remainder of the globe, but such is not our concern; we permit those to join who will, and any who desire to leave are free to do so. Alexandria is a peaceful nation but its people are prepared to defend themselves when necessary, and with a large portion, if not most of the world's resources at our disposal, phase three can begin. We will have the greatest minds in the world gathered together, and with unlimited funding there will be nothing preventing them from reaching the technological singularity.

All hail the Technocratic Republic of Alexandria.

So like Dot Hack:happy: ... we already have the Oculus Riftso why not?
I would invest in several Open Source, like maybe KlyDE, but mostly Qt stuff. I would like a DE that written in Qt similar t XFCE but instead of X.Org I would want Wayland or Mir(I would also invest in both these) once the software is to my liking (a very difficult thing to accomplish) I would create an OS based off Arch written mostly in QT with great Wine integration and the works. I was also thinking of making an All-in-one emulator that acted as a hub for all your other emulators, essentially it wouldn’t be an emulator at all but more like a singular GUI for all your emulators and a Rom manage to boot. When you want to add an emulator it would show you the compatible ones(most likely only Open-Source emulators) then it downloads the emulator, sets it up, and when you want to play a game you just download it and play, kinda like steam but for roms.
Space Program.
