Apparently I am learning to use my other functions. I suppose this is the 'growth' over time associated with maturing? I'm still ISTJ, though. Just more social.

Also, let’s compare with what my Myers-Briggs test indicated this time.

BEFORE:
I: 73%
S: 74%
T: 84%
J: 100%

AFTER:
E: 53%
S: 100%
T: 79%
J: 100%

I/E: 126% Increase towards E
S/N: 26% Increase towards S
T/F: 5% Increase towards F
J/P: Constant at 100% J.

Odd. It thinks I am an ESTJ. I've been focusing on being more social by joining clubs, forcing myself to talk to people, etc. I've even blocked out "SOCIAL" time on my time table. =P

What do you guys think? Is there a theory behind shifting functions over time? Can people 'change' into other types? I still identify with ISTJ, although this one particular test that I have taken 3x thinks I am an ESTJ now. *shrugs*

Ideas?

I don't trust those tests. I don't think they can accurately measure cognitive function use. Also, you could just be using your extroverted functions more than usual due to external circumstance that call for it, so if it does measure it correctly, that could be a reason.

I do not believe that your type changes. I believe we answer the questions differently based on various factors.

I've tested out ESTJ on occasion and chalk it up to the leading nature of the questions. If I didn't have time to myself every day, I'd probably croak.

This.

For example, I've been typed as an ESTJ/ENTJ by people who have worked with me only on projects where I was the director. During these times, I test out usually as an INTJ (with a low I) and I attribute this to the different factors in my life during that time. I usually test out with a high I, so I just think it's a matter of me using other functions less/more and being influenced by certain things in life.

But essentially, I don't think type changes.
