Hi all electronic music lovers <3

This thread is inspired by @hal0hal0 and also @mysterie and @mimesis - I think you might find this thread interesting.

The topic 'techno' came up *waves at Hal0* and gave a thread about it some thought, have been dithering about how to format the idea in the first place(due to number of tracks allowed per post which I think is 5 max). So here goes a place to share with others your favourite pieces of electronica to keep it broad. Experimental, catchy, old and new etc. Post your thoughts and accompanying illustrations about the tracks you linked if you wish…

Just one thing - Please be sure to post your tracks in spoiler tags to keep loading times down. Many thanks!

Happy listening!

Depends what you mean by "electronic". A genre, or just music made using synthesisers? Or even samplers?

I'm not much for techno, and certainly not dubstep lol.

Anyway, I do like some nice melodic stuff. Also chiptunes and retro game music can be really good :).

I did actually make one really weird electronic song once. I had only one goal: make it the longest song I've ever made. And it turned out to be a little under 9 minutes. Not long at all compared to some atmospheric tracks people make, but it was the longest I've ever done :). And it's pretty weird compared to my other songs...lol.

Yeah, this is what drew me back from creating this thread in the first place. I don't know. I don't see why dub step can't be posted, it's all pretty inclusive. The basis behind this is really for people to discover anything in the electronic genre(house/techno/dubstep/chill-out/DnB/Jungle etc…) with those who might have a similar appreciation). It's a bit more niche than the 'what are you listening to' thread. :)

Yay!!!

I don't like being too strict about categories or genre definitions either, just enough to discover cool stuff I guess? Like, there's too much grey area and I'm not one to split hairs deciding what the precise genre it is. Tis about the music after all. Well, I know of one dubstep artist... He uses a loop machine to record his beatbox stuff so he's kind of a one-man band... Dub Fx

ughhh yesss I've been waiting for something like this. I can dig almost all electronica, it just depends on my mood. Now, excuse me while I be not cool and use soundcloud links. Because.

So, I'm on a huuuuuge chilled/downtempo kick recently. Not deep house or garage, per se, but calmer/contemplative with more than just bassy synths. Atmospheric, indie electronica, chillstep, I love it all. My favorite dig in the last six months has been this:
https://soundcloud.com/mrsuicidesheep/christopher-norman-integrate

However, I still like a bunch of more "normal" electronica.
https://soundcloud.com/thenoisyfreaks/the-noisy-freaks-jack-we-are-the-ones (bouncy, french-house style)
https://soundcloud.com/sirens-ceol/estiva-feels-right-sirensceol-remix-1 (powerful, club-esque electro house)

And then there's the classics. Or, well, my classics:

Wolfgang Gartner and Deadmau5 usually do it for me when I can't find anything new.

Yess, Dub FX, yummmm

I used to be in electronic music at some points. Not necessarily a type of house music, but still electronic is Moderat. Though a bit moody

And Gus Gus, which is also a bit moody, but also dreamy and with character. Gus Gus is an Icelandic band... so you know, they must have certain life and emotional experiences the average American or City European wouldn't. I hope I don't sound racist or smtn, It's really more my appreciation of different experiences being translated into music. I especially love their songs ''Arabian Horse'' and ''Within You''

I also stumbled upon this song. Just a cool, feely electronic track. I can really get into electronic music when it's on, but it often puts me in sad places so I try not to too often...

Aaaand then also the golden songs from my teens. We were really into electronic and house music. I think it was a huge wave in europe in general at that time.

I now realise some of them are not as electronic as I thought :D But still kinda are

And damm, this makes me so emotional. Sweet, sweet 16 :/

Electronic music is quite spiritual actually....

Haha, yeah I forgot to do that; edited my post properly. I really liked the Tranllusion track! Usually have to give these a few listens before it sinks its teeth in, so I'll definitely be frequenting this thread.

:th_love:

Now that I think about it... it was really Bjork's Telegram that was the first electronic album that really felt "down the rabbit hole" for me and is probably my favorite of hers (followed by Homogenic and Biophilia). I think she said somewhere Telegram was her version of Post if she made if solely for her enjoyment.

This one's more poppy/catchy but I like it; kinda feels 80s-ish for some reason:

YES. THIS IS MY MOMENT.

Oh damn. Where to start? I'll give it a shot, but this is like asking me to choose a favorite food.

Well, I second @Habanc in regards to Deadmau5 and Wolfgang Gartner.

I enjoy Aphex Twin and Squarepusher quite a bit, too, though it really varies from song to song. They're either the best thing I've ever heard or really f**king weird and abrasive.

And finally...Jon Hopkins. Slowly but surely becoming my favorite artist, alongside Deadmau5. He's a genius; his music can float so light but hit harder than a dubstep drop when you let yourself become immersed. It practically sounds alive.

I could probably name at least half a dozen more artists and drop 50 videos here without missing a beat, but...I won't, because of obvious constraints. But suffice it to say that I adore electronic music.

Agreed. I think it's like a modern thing because of how divided dance music is. I remember when it was just called 'dance music'. Or maybe simpler variations. I don't think it's even really possible to successfully categorise all the genres coz of the sheer number of them and how they overlap with each other - they call that fusion just for another name :p Yup, if it sounds good then it's good.

Oh and btw, I loved that Dub Fx guy especially the street performance, he's got a lovely bassy sound. I must get into some of his stuff, so much soul… Interestingly, he's got so many different influences in his music. *likey*

Found this mix quite recently and can't stop listening to it, I read that it was created for a fashion show and sort of rivalled a similar idea of Daft Punk at that time. It's a great bit of music candy except for whether I wander it's greatness has imploded on itself about 2/3rds of the way through.

Electronic music appreciation thread, now that's my type of thread! I've even named myself after a DJ! (Not INFP but love EDM!)

Aphex Twin is insanely good!

Nosaj Thing is also another favourite of mine -

Oliver Tank is a lesser known EDM artist, but he's also awesome and takes inspiration from Nosaj Thing

Does anyone else love Daft Punk?
I think I would name them as one of my top electronic music artists, even top musicians.

PORTER ROBINSON

anybody here like any UK Garage???

Because i'm in love with Hannah Wants.
If you like Hannah Wants, you may like MJ Cole!
