Hi,

I'm an ENTJ female and a few years ago, an ESFP started flirting with me. This went on for years but it never progressed to dating, because (weirdly for an ENTJ) I used to be a very shy person. Almost a year ago, I began doing something very bad. (I now know that this is very bad and I shouldn't do this again.) I found out that an ESFP would be very sad when people ignore them. I wanted to feel powerful so I began ignoring him. I later realized that this was very bad and I saw him crying many times. He also seemed to quite a bit turned to another person. He also seems quite scared now to be in a relationship. BTW we're pretty young (we're currently 16) and this is probably our first love.

A few months ago, I wanted to stop all this and I also wanted to begin dating him. (I'm pretty sure he still likes me.) Our school is closed for the summer and the only way we can now talk is through texting. However, he seems scared to date me. How do I gain his trust back through texting without annoying him?

Ps. I know that ESFP want people who really love and care about them. I'm willing to do this but I don't know how to show this to him. BTW I'm not normally willing to love and care about people. He's actually the first I'm willing to do this to.

Thank you in advance for your response!

My advise would be to just have an honest conversation with him. Face to face is better than text. Ask him if he would like to meet up with you somewhere and if you do have an honest and direct talk. Ask him if you upset him and if he says yes then apologise for it and tell him how you feel about him. No more mind games. That's how you got your self into this situation in the first place, it seems to me. So ... yeah, basically, honesty is the best thing you two need I think. Hope this helps.
