Well it seems this would be a step in the right direction and a stepping stone to your ultimate goal. I wouldn't worry to much about whether or not the stepping stone phase of your plan sits well with your preferences. That's par for the course. It's law. A lot of minutia, detailed arbitrary logistics and paper work paper work paper work as is. There is probably going to be a lot stuff that you find doesn't suit your tastes for quite some time.
