Hey guys!

I was curious as to what some of your favorite song lyrics were! I would also be interested in hearing any lyrics that you deem relatable, meaningful, deep, or just pure awesome. :)

Here are some of mine:

"And if there's no tomorrow,
I'll have today again
There's no time for sorrow
When there's no such thing as time..."
- "If The World Should End" (Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark)
^ Basically, this entire song is awesome and beautiful. I highly recommend listening to it. :)

"Quiet
Like silence, but not really silent
Just that nice kind of quiet
Like the sound when you lie upside-down in your bed
Just the sound of your heart in your head"
- "Quiet" (Matilda)

"Love doesn't discriminate
Between the sinners
And the saints
It takes and it takes and it takes
And we keep loving anyway
We laugh and we cry
And we break
And we make our mistakes
And if there's a reason I'm by her side
When so many have tried
Then I'm willing to wait for it
I'm willing to wait for it"
- "Wait For It" (Hamilton)

"There's a faraway land so the stories all tell
Somewhere beyond the horizon
If we can find it, then all will be well
Troubles there are few
Someday we'll go to
Solla Sollew"
- "Solla Sollew" (Seussical)
^ Listen to this song if you're in the mood to cry a little :)

>On a side note, if you couldn't tell, I listen primarily to musical soundtracks. These are some of my personal favorites, and I highly recommend listening to them, even if you're not into that particular genre! :D

Madonna - Nothing Really Matters

"When I was very young
Nothing really mattered to me
But making myself happy
I was the only one

Now that I am grown
Everything's changed
I'll never be the same
Because of you"

* The Strokes, Ize Of The World

I think I know what you mean, but watch what you say
Cause they'll be trying to knock you down in some way
Sometimes it feels like the world is falling asleep
How do you wake someone up from inside a dream?

None that relate to me and how I'm feeling... but often lyrics resonate with me depending on the situation I'm in / with other people?

I don't really relate strongly to lyrics. I do relate to the tones of songs, though.

A Winged Victory for the Sullen's self-titled album is literally like having my thoughts being transformed into music.

Poetry is best when sung. Most of my favourites are Russian, but I also like Leonard Cohen and a couple of others...

You don't know me from the wind
you never will, you never did.
I'm the little jew
who wrote the Bible.
I've seen the nations rise and fall,
I've heard their stories, heard them all
but love's the only engine of survival.
Your servant here, he has been told
to say it clear, to say it cold:
It's over, it ain't going
any further.
And now the wheels of heaven stop,
you feel the devil's riding crop.
Get ready for the future:
it is murder.

Leonard Cohen, The Future

И тени их качались на пороге.
Безмолвный разговор они вели,
красивые и мудрые, как боги,
и грустные, как жители земли.

- Bulat Okudzhava, Moskovsky Muravey

Där du kära gestalter och syner minns,
där står tomheten öde och kal,
och min eviga vaggsång är allt som finns
av det gamla i Alsterns dal.

- Gustaf Fröding, Strövtåg i hembygden
(A poem turned into a song by Mando Diao)

This song reflects feelings I felt for a lot of my childhood. Thinking back on them still makes me sad today.

Arcade Fire - "In the Backseat"

I like the peace
In the backseat
I don't have to drive
I don't have to speak
I can watch the countryside
And I can fall asleep

My family tree's
Losing all its leaves
Crashing towards the driver's seat
The lightning bolt made enough heat
To melt the street beneath your feet

Alice died
In the night
I've been learning to drive
My whole life
I've been learning

I like the peace
In the backseat
I don't have to drive
I don't have to speak
I can watch the countryside...

Alice died
In the night
I've been learning to drive
My whole life
I've been learning how...!

When I think about all the other ways I could have played,
All the other simple moves I could have made,
All the other cards that I could have dealt,
All the books I didn't read upon my shelf,
All of the other ways I could have sung my songs,
Realized that none of it went wrong,
And it was all play.
How could it be any other way?

It's very rare that I resonate with the lyrics of a song, especially an entire song...

----------------------------------------------------------

There are those who think that life
Has nothing left to chance
With a host of holy horrors
To direct our aimless dance

A planet of playthings
We dance on the strings
Of powers we cannot perceive
"The stars aren't aligned,
Or the gods are malign"
Blame is better to give than receive

You can choose a ready guide
In some celestial voice
If you choose not to decide
You still have made a choice

You can choose from phantom fears
And kindness that can kill
I will choose a path that's clear
I will choose free will

There are those who think that
They've been dealt a losing hand
The cards were stacked against them,
They weren't born in Lotus-Land

All preordained
A prisoner in chains
A victim of venomous fate
Kicked in the face
You can't pray for a place
In heaven's unearthly estate

Each of us
A cell of awareness
Imperfect and incomplete
Genetic blends
With uncertain ends
On a fortune hunt
That's far too fleet

"Freewill" - Rush

I swear this song gets me choked up every time I listen to it, mostly because it strikes a really deep chord within me.

"Save Your Heart" -Mayday Parade

She fell to the bottom of her life
This wasn't meant for two
She struggles to find herself in time
But she can barely move

Just try and get up
You gotta slowly brush off
I know that words aren't enough
But you're better than this

Save your heart
For someone that's worth dying for
Don't give it away
Torn apart
Never getting what you've been crying for
It's always the same

She turns the pages everyday
Just to change the mood
But every chapter reads the same
So hard to make it through

Just try and get up
You gotta slowly brush off
I know that words aren't enough
But you're better than this

Save your heart
For someone that's worth dying for
Don't give it away
Torn apart
Never getting what you've been crying for
It's always the same

And you give (and you give)
And they take (and they take)
And it's love that you want
But not love that you make

The whole song is great, but I love these verses from Andrew McMahon's All our Lives:

I saw this woman with tears in her eyes
Driving beside me yesterday
She turned her head then I turned mine
And I watched her drive away

I thought "If I could tell her something I would tell her this
There's only two mistakes that I have made
It's running from the people who could love me best
And trying to fix a world that I can't change."
