What are the types for the characters on Freaks and Geeks?

I’ll attempt to type each character every so often. I’ll begin with Lindsay:

I thought she displayed extraverted feeling in the beginning of the season, but I noticed that she has trouble controlling it, and prefers to rationalize her problems, even though she might not always arrive at the best solution. She needs alone time (as evidenced by her relationship with Nick), loves reading (she drops references to Carl Sagan and Jack Kerouac, understands many of her assigned school books, and reads in her free time), and has an exceptional ability at trigonometry (she was first block in the mathletes).

She has J confrontations with her P friends. She broke up the freak’s band by motivating Nick too much, always wants to complete her school work on schedule, constantly suggests doing something meaningful, complains about her friend’s laziness, makes quick decisions, and so on.

She seems intuitive, especially during the episode when she smoked pot, denounced the existence of God because it was illogical, and suggested a crazy theory about people being part of a dog’s dream. She seems cynical and claims that all humans are unhappy and that she does not know who she is. One may argue that these thoughts are her reactions to her grandmother’s death and a part of mourning. On the other hand, she shows a similar cynicism with society and her parents, as displayed by her diary’s entries.

My suggested archetype for Lindsay: INTJ

Ken is the least seen main character. He communicates through heavy sarcasm, does not brag much, detects bullshit easily, does not fall in love easily, and hardly becomes upset. He is highly individualistic and down to earth. He is smart (ex. He hustled people in Quarters and knew the keg was not alcoholic) but does not apply himself to schoolwork. Ken seems content to sit alone, thinking and observing, until he makes an observation (mostly in the form of criticism or sarcasm).

My suggested archetype for Ken: INTP

I just started watching this show!
I would say Lindsay's more of a feeler
Agree Ken is an INTP
Daniel- Esfp or Isfp
Kim Kelly- estp?

Can't really think of what the geeks might be.

I thought that too. She seems to display extroverted feeling by reacting emotionally when someone attacks her intentions or values. On the other hand, she handled her emotions poorly in the beginning of the season, but appeared to mature each episode. She has a tendency to rationalize her problems after an emotional outburst and often solves her episode conundrum. She seems very empathetic toward other people, but is sometimes misinterpreted by others.

INTJ:

Dominant: Introverted Intuition
Auxilliary: Extraverted Thinking
Tertiary: Introverted Feeling

Inferior: Extraverted Sensing

INFJ:

Dominant: Introverted Intuition
Auxilliary: Extraverted Feeling
Tertiary: Introverted Thinking

Inferior: Extraverted Sensing

Kim Kelly - I could see that. I've seen her typed as an ESTP and ENTP and ESFP, but I learn toward ESTP.

I'm seeing a lot of different typing than I'd expect. This is what I've thought, having watched the series countless times over:

Lindsey: INFJ (this seems certain to me)
Kim: ESFP
Daniel: ISFP
Nick: INFP
Ken: ISTP

Sam: ISFJ
Bill: INFP (comes off more as an INTP maybe, but F makes sense)
Neil: ENTP

Mom: ESFJ
Dad: ISTJ

Shaun: ESTP
Gordon: INFP
Harris: INTP
Milly: ISFJ

A lot of room for people to disagree, but I think this is pretty accurate.

Ok just watched the first episode and thats all Ive seen. Lindsay is easily an F and most def an Fi. She knows when other people are being jerks and wont go along with others just for a laugh. She is def an Introvert. She is a I and F but i cant tell on the other two. Also she doesnt feel comforted comforming and feels misunderstood and she seems like she is thinking what an idiot inside her head which is an Fi thing as well as Ti I think but she doesnt have that Ti appeal. Im thinking INFP or ISFP and dont think INFJ but intj is a possibility but dont think that either. Also over rationalizing her feelings about things is an Fi Te thing but they arent as good at it. Im an INFP and I really feel like I have alot in common with her except I feel bad cause I was always too chicken to stand up for people even when they were assholes

Sorry for resurrecting and old thread but they just put this up on Netflix and I've been watching it nonstop.

I like your guesses. I have a few.
I think Bill is definitely INTP.
Harris seems very INTJ to me, based on the INFJs I know in real life.
Daniel seems ESTP
Lindsay doesn't seem like a feeler to me. But I don't know what she is.
I agree with your Ken, Millie, Kim & Neil.
The parents are definitely SJ's
I'm not sure about Sam.
Nick seems ENFP and so does the guidance counselor Jeff.
I could see Gordon as an NF but not sure which.

Changed my mind about Bill. I think he may be INFP. The last few episodes of the season, he became a lot more brooding.

This is my assessment after 7 episodes so it might not be super accurate.
Daniel-ESTP He seems like he can be a jerk at times and is a super manipulator which is most evident in ESTPs.
Ken- ISTP. I have friends who are both Istp and INTP and he is nothing like the INTPs.
Nick- Tough one so far but def an F. ISFP maybe. Hes my favorite character though. Could be INFP but doesnt seem real deep and conceptual from what Ive seen.
Kim-ESTP maybe but seems different than Daniel. Def a T.
Lindsay- Is a really tough one. She seems like an F to me and stands up against injustice she sees but like any teenager wants to fit in. Does seem like a J. INFJ probably.
Mom- ESFJ
Dad- ISTJ The parents are the most obvious.
Sam- ISFJ
Neil- ENTP. Entps are pretty easy for me to type I feel.
Bill- Seems like an INTP maybe but I dont really see INFP. Maybe if you could explain that one a little more it would make sense.
Jeff the guidance councelor is most definitly an ENFP to me. My sister and mom are ENFPs.

I see Lindsey as INTJ, and here's why: it takes a NT type who's also a Ni-dom to get stoned and look up an encyclopedia article about what she's going through

This is the only decent attempt so far, but I still disagree with some.

Sam - INTP (He's the quintessential geek. He thinks things thru in great detail, and comes to original conclusions.)
Neal - ENTP (Overly confident, attention whore, scheming)
Bill - INTP (Thoughtful, out-of-touch, shy)

Cindy - ENFP (Romantic, unusually deep for a cool kid)
Todd - ESTJ (Cindy's crush; a regular jock)

Lindsay - INTJ (Not an F, just expressing F values. I do this too.)
Daniel - ISTP (Cool, mechanical, smooth; but not adventurous)
Ken - ESFP (This is Seth Rogan, people. Funny man Seth Rogan.)
Nick - ISFP (I've seen an ISFP get obsessed like he did.)
Kim - ESTP (Loud, adventurous, passionate)

Mom - ESFJ (Stereotypical 1980 American mother)
Dad - ISTJ (Cares excessively about his standing in the community)

Jeff - ENFP (Stereotypical hippie)

Wow, why is everyone typing Neil as an ENTP? Where is his Ne? Where is his Ti? If anything, all I see in him is loads of Te. My guess would be ENTJ much sooner than ENTP.
