First of all... did I miss that @
Tru7h is a fellow Keirsey-ite? Delightful. I spent many years as a Please Understand Me II road-warrior. The Book of Eli, it was.
Anyway... nostalgia aside: There is no way in hell that our dear @
spicytea is an INTP. Not once, not never. It will take some doing to convince me she is anything other than a dynamic, intelligent, fun, creative, thoughtful, friendly, authentic, principled, inquisitive:
ISFP
So, spicy:
Fi: Deep roiling ambiguous emotions. A deep dark sea of them... if you let that ocean crash around in your for a long while and never try to suppress it or let other people beat it down, it will be a calm endless expanse in a few years and you will be quite wise. That's just how it goes. Fi does not feel at one with their emotions until they are older and I get the feeling you are fairly young. You just gotta let all those damnedable emotions work themselves out and don't rush it. It will be a treasure trove someday. Young Fi can really struggle, however, especially ones who are brave enough to really hold onto this struggle even if it makes them feel stupid or they are made to feel stupid for it.
Se: I can't emphasize enough that Se is not jocks and salesmen. Se is seeing the world as fluid and changing, words as fluid, people as fluid. Some people get a good handle on this and, like Neo in the Matrix, start to bend objects and people to their will with nuance and cleverness. Some bend their own bodies to this will... and so you have jocks, and salesmen. But, you also have artists, composers, scientists, those men and women who have been to space and to the bottom of the sea. You have a dreamer, lying on the beach breathing in the air or just spending time with friends in the warmth of intelligent conversation. Depth of experience. Kinesthetics: learning by doing. Reliance on evidence and common sense...
Ni: In a healthy psyche, Ni is in a supporting role to Se. It takes that depth of experience and injects it with inner will. Ni pushes Se to be more discerning with ideas, to question the easy answers we are often being fed about life. Ni expands Se in it's ability to see nuance and connections in seemingly mundane things. This is the final necessary piece to the ISFP artist. Don't take any concept at face value... because if you peel back the facade and connect the hidden dots, you realize that so many things are just smoke and mirrors. As this develops you will see the ISFP beginning to become more and more ideological - and starting to take stands.
Te: In the inferior position, Te isn't going to get a ton of air time. Fi will use it to give itself a voice... which is why when emotions are spoken, they are often yelled. Te is the way ISFPs make judgement of the world around them. So, it's fair to say that ISFP doesn't often make judgments of the world around them. ISFP doesn't like to compare people or gossip, etc. They don't even like to boss people around. However, sometimes they wish they could... typically, when something comes up that requires Te.... Se is going to pick up the slack and Te will use it to get itself across. ISFP, therefore, will 'boss' people with cleverness and playfulness, more inclined to trick or coax the world around them. If that fails, and the situation is very critical... Se might fail... and Fi might fail..... and as cognition collapses, a cornered ISFP is going to suddenly tear people a new one or at least go on a righteous tirade. As the ISFP gets older and Te gets stronger, they will come to be relied upon as a great judge of the world around them.
Okay... so, if you think any of that applies to you, I'd like to know.
A good analogy of ISFP is a singer-songwriter... the vast majority of which as ISFP. They grow up breathing in the nuances of life, tend to love nature and animals and feel somewhat cynical about the world but happy to meet people... wanting to talk about interesting things on all sorts of subjects... the ugly mess of their emotions is picked up with Se engaged and Ni abstracted perception... and the result is music that is quite charming and and great experiences are had as they really try to become the best at what they do. ISFPs are serious about virtuosity. As they get older the lyrics get more ideological. Ever notice how bands mature and their music becomes more applicable to causes and the message becomes more clear? ISFPs tapping into Ni. Also, how serene and clever but then suddenly just gotta -scream- a bit? Yeah.
