Alright, crazy kids. I heard this song on the radio today, and it's one of my favorites. Now, it's a Christian song, to be fair, but let's say it's about two people in a deep, loving relationship. (You'll get this when you listen to the song. The only time it's even remotely religious is the one mention of "sin". But it's really just a deep spiritual love song.)

Do you feel that the singer is an INFJ conversing with his lover, OR do you feel he's another type who is conversing with his INFJ lover instead? When I went through this experiment in my mind earlier, I couldn't really decide, because it could go either way.

He could be singing about his INFJ standing by him, despite his faults, and his insecurities. How she allows him to be open, to be himself, in contrast to when he deals with the rest of the world. I've heard many other types in relationships describe us INFJs in this way, where they love us for being so accepting, where they don't feel like there's any need to save face all the time and such. T types seem particularly affected by this, for some reason. Maybe because with us they feel more comfortable showing their feelings and such.

Or, he could be singing about being an INFJ, being a "hero" to the rest of the world, always sacrificing himself to help others, and how the love of his life just lets him be himself, reaffirms his best qualities, and gives him the rest he needs.

So, which do you think would be the more likely scenario?) And why did you come to that conclusion?

Sounds like an INFJ grappling with the reality of his inability to truly connect. The focus is on the separation.

"The Secrets I keep are tearing me up inside,
I try to hide and then I wonder why,
I wonder why I'm still running,
When I know there's no escape."

It seems like he sees no way to reconcile the separation.

"No one wants to pay the asking price"

Classic INFJ perception

When I listen to it I imagine an INFJ singing to an ENFJ because it feels like he's saying he can finally stop being a hero and show his weaker side and be his sensitive self with the ENFJ who will give him the love and attention he's been looking for. INFJs are the world's councilor but the ENFJ have the ability to make an INFJ ease up and have a turn to voice their own pain and sufferings

I agree - it could go either way.
