...uhmmm. Title kinda says it all lol.
I think he exhibits quite a few ENTP-like traits, but I'm not necessarily convinced. Any opinions?

...I'm not convinced that he's an ENTP either, but there's ALOT of ENTP traits that he shows. NT, huge thirst of knowledge, under-achieving, high social skills, friendships valued tremendously, enjoys putting people in their place, somewhat against authority... I identify with this character tremendously. And some of the traits he shows are more ENTP than any other NT type (which I figure we can gather that much). So what're the biases?

Personally I think he's an INTP

the major question being, is he an introvert or extrovert. While you could say extrovert due to his interactions with his friends, and his charming nature; I would say Introvert because a lot of that is part of his protective emotional barrier.

Too much empathy, emotion and intimacy in his interpersonal relationships for ENTP, despite the efforts to mask it, it's obvious what is inside him.. Also, he doesn't seem to be as socially adept as an ENTP. I don't know enough about other types to guess what he might be.

also, not to mention, he's has a strong F as well (though he's an NT). His emotions and stances against authority and conformity whilst being able to exploit and manipulate stems in large part for his emotional past; this is how he copes. Indeed, he reminds me exactly of I.

Too charming to be INTP? He's playing a role - it's a created character so it's not going to match some perfect stereotype. With that said, if he's any type at all, it's INTP.

He's INTP, and a very damaged one at that. The NSA scene is all Ne/Si.

The sarcasm is def. very NT, no doubt, and most of the INTPs I've ever met have been quite sarcastic, just like Will in the NSA scene (as well as many other scenes). That being said, so are ENTPs; it is possible to be a very socially-gaurded, relatively-introverted, cautious ENTP - especially one that's had the abuse and trauma that he did. I would know, because although my childhood wasn't as horrible as Will's, it was certainly abusive to the point where it's left an impact on my social behavior.

also take into consideration he is a real person with a real life personality, trying to portray another personality, fictional - so the combination of the two would be the personality we are looking for

I first thought Will was an INTP, given his private intellectual nature and actual interest in some heavy, heavy reading (e.g., Nietzsche, Kant, etc.). However, I now think he's most likely an ENTP. He's witty, charming, funny, dominant, rebellious, troubled, intellectual, and social. He may be very low on extraversion, though. Either this, or an INTP with an unusual amount of social interest and ability. But yes, he mostly seems to be a somewhat nerdy ENTP. The guy's Ne is off the charts. The scene in which Will is explaining why he doesn't want to take the government job is nothing less than the use of Extraverted Intuition to understand the big picture from a global perspective (though no doubt Ti is also at work piecing together all this information). It's complex and intricate, like a giant web of thought.

So yeah, that's my verdict. ENTP.

ENTPs can also appear introverted due to protective emotional barriers, as well as not caring as much for other humans due to some level of resentment. Not all ENTPs lack emotional barriers due to damage, and not all ENTPs enjoy being around people. Some actually find people extremely annoying and prefer to spend lots of time alone (though they are definitely not introverts). So this reasoning does not work.

Yup. He's too charming to be an obvious introvert, and he's definitely not a sensor since, as you said, he's capable of seeing the big picture with extreme capability.

ENTP with huge ADD, and has hyper focus to overcome it.

I can relate. I was a math major, obviously not at his brilliance level. Putting together the different things and making the proofs work is totally Ne with Ti.
The drive to SHOW OFF is Fe - I tell the honest brutal truth because it si best for the receiver. They don't like it, adn I do not care as I have no Fi.

Funny enough, before ever getting into personality types i always relatd with his character and felt that me and him were very alike in a number of ways. I would definitely label him ENTP. I can be pretty emotionally guarded as well.
