I Am Always Shocked When I Do Something (and Do It Well)

Is anyone else ever shocked when they find they have actually completed a task, and somehow managed to do it well? I seem to finish everything before the due date, even if I start it within hours of when it's due, and people seem to evaluate my work as actually good! I don't usually feel like I've even tried particularly hard or anything, and I usually evaluate my own work as subpar, but then when I see other people's work, I'm usually in the slightly-above-average range. Duuuude. How does this happen?

Thats what I thought when I was on honor roll in school. Anytime I do well in something I always think really? I don't think I was even trying that hard.

I haven't ever actually tried to get anything done recently... I'm still in high school so I just feel most of the stuff I have to do is meaningless so I careless whether I did a good job on it or not as long as I pass the class with at least a low B, maybe high C. I might do something because I'm bored and put some effort into it and will be complimented by how great or above average it is, but shrug it off because I know it means nothing to me personally.

I have a horrible time with due dates though, even if the work interests me because it might interest me for a whole day, but then the next day I'll get bored of it or tell myself I was all hyped up for nothing and think I'm wasting my time with whatever I was working on since it's not as good as I thought it was.
I have this quite often. I put work off and put work off, wanting it to be the best it can be and not knowing where to start, then I get near the deadline and I have to just get it done, then when I read it back afterwards I am often quite surprised that it's good.

As much as I hate myself for procrastinating so much, whenever I do on something that has a concrete due date and I rush near the last minute, I'm always surprised by how well I do under the pressure. I always have trouble focusing and figuring out what to do until my adrenaline gets going from racing to beat the clock, then my mind just explodes into action and I almost feel like I can't keep up with myself.

I am usually confident in the work I do. What surprises me is when I receive praise for it.
