Hello there fellow ISTJs, I wanted to introduce myself and share some of my personality traits that have led me to believe that I am an ISTJ, although I really haven't looked at the other MBTI categories to see if there was one that more closely matches myself. I have taken several free personality tests online, and all have indicated that I am an ISTJ.

Right now I am 28 years old and have spent the past ten years since becoming an adult trying to figure myself out. I consider myself somewhat of a loner, but I have a small group of close friends that I hold dear. I've never been in a romantic relationship with anyone and I feel like until I can get my own life started financially, supporting a family isn't in the agenda.

I have worked various jobs in the past, and all have resulted in termination both voluntary and involuntary. I went to school a couple years ago to obtain my Associates degree in Medical Coding & Billing and recently landed a full-time position with a local Medical Billing service company. I start tomorrow and feel rather nervous because its been awhile since I buried my brain in medical billing and coding procedures.

Below is a list of my known personality traits and how I generally carry myself on a day-to-day basis

- I'm almost never late to jobs and appointments, but if I am I go crazy and apologize for being late

- I can work for long periods of time on a task or project without any direct supervision once properly trained

- Talking on the phone for long periods is something I despise

- I'm polite and courteous in public using good manners. I address people I don't know as sir or ma'am

- I have a hard time with talking to people I don't know very well or they have life experiences that I haven't had the opportunity to go through

- I get irritated when people show up late after they stated they'll be showing up at a certain time

- Trust is something that is hard earned with me

- I'll often doubt my capability of achieving a goal or starting and completing a project I am not entirely familiar with

- I'm of the mindset that when you need something done right, you do it yourself

- I lack the ability to clearly show emotions except for anger and frustration

- Weighing the pros and cons is something I do quite often and have no problem sharing them with others

- I have a tendency to see things for what they truly are

- Tolerating laziness and lack of getting the job done in the workplace is something I struggle with

- I communicate better in writing than I do verbally

I'm sure there are other traits I have that I forgot to mention. I spend most of my spare time researching current events and research any major purchase I plan to make. I'm in front of a computer for most of my waking hours and the TV is rarely ever turned on except to play video games or watch a movie. My social life mainly consists of internet based interaction, but when I get the chance I enjoy going out with my friends and doing stuff. I have never been into any athletic sports and hated Physical Education in grade school. I'm not always the most organized individual nor am I the neat freak that my Mom is. The buildup of dust on my furniture and my bed that never gets made is proof of that.

Anyway just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm pretty sure I am an ISTJ but I could be wrong.

Welcome to the path of self-discovery. You also might want to look into ennegrams, they add another dimension to MBTI. Comprehensive Enneagram Quiz

Welcome to you sir.

I match your personality traits except for:
- Trust is something that is hard earned with me
(Unless you mean you don't trust total strangers, which would be the same for me)

You'd better get involved in a special interest group or something that will push you to socialise, it is hard but it is worth it.

See you around the forums.

I respect people, but in my experience, there are few people I can count on to be there when I need them. Of course I wouldn't trust a total stranger but even after I get to know someone it really takes time for me to open up and share the thoughts I tend to keep more to myself. I am currently in a special interest group that I am more than happy to be a member of. Thanks everyone for the responses, feedback, and suggestions.

If that's what you mean I guess it matches me too. Welcome to the club.

I have been working at my new job going on two weeks now. I really enjoy it and the company I work for trains very well. Their commitment to excellence is something I haven't seen much of the other employers I had the opportunity to work for. The managers don't act like bosses and the general attitude around the office is, we can all learn something from each other which I value personally. I'm able to work independently and ask questions when I don't know how to do something. This is the first job I had where I didn't want to quit after the first week and hope I can turn it into a long term commitment. As an ISTJ I feel pretty confident I will succeed at this new job and have steady employment for the long haul.
