AI is, as a whole, a very controversial subject, methinks. I'm more inclined to be against building a super-brain, though, as it could have monstrous consequences. Any intelligent being, human or machine, can rebel against the status quo, which is a double-edged sword.
Of course, replicating some of humanity's greatest minds may greatly speed up progress, which I'm all for.
