Also, if you look at the functions above, you see that i.e. many INFJ might be good at verbal or symbolic, and lack therefore of concrete because of the Ni. So the left/right brain hasn't only to do with feeling or thinking, but with all the other functions (like Ni, Se and so on), as well.

I can actually be very logical if I want to. It usually works like this: "gut feeling" = reaction
or sometimes "gut feeling" leads to "thinking about gut feeling" leads to "logical interpretation of events" = reaction

I don't know, I think even though I feel a lot, I also feel the need to analyze those feelings, and that ultimately leads (at least for me) to logic. If that makes sense .
(Or maybe I just think I'm being logical!)

Some of the questions on that assessment I don't see why they would be a proper measure of right vs. left brain -- do you like rock music? Most people do so how does that narrow it down effectively?


This is a little off-topic, but when I was reading through the results, particularly in the "intuition" section, this came to mind. When I was in grade school and high school I hardly ever studied for assessments. Honestly, many times I would just go with my "gut" feeling for the answer and it would be good enough to get by just fine. It wasn't until college when I started to actually read through material beforehand to study because of all the essay question assessments. But even then, in courses such as psychology or economics I'd choose to hardly go to class and I'd still get an A on every exam because it was that natural for me.
Guess that kind of reflects the INFJ Ni. :tongue:

I haven't take any tests to check which side is dominant (I would not trust tests on this issue anyways, only an actual scan ) but I started out as ambidextrous and from what my parents told me had good command of both hands. I still remember when I was a kid I'd take two pencils into both of my hands and then would draw on same drawing with both pencils simultaneously. Then I switched to writing with my left hand sometime in 3rd grade, though I can still write with my right hand somewhat OK. Right now I have some kind of weird division of tasks between my two hands. There are some tasks that my right hand can do that my left hand struggles with, and vice versa. All in all I'd say I'm more right brained than left brained. My right eye sees worse than my left eye. Whenever I get sick, I always get sick more on the right side of my body. Whenever I get colds flu or even pneumonia it is always the right side that gets more congested and the right lung that takes longer to recover.

I've read of a few sources trying to map MBTI functions onto hemispheres but there seem to be conflicting results. For example I read somewhere that Te maps to left side of brain while Ti maps to right side of brain, and same with Fe that Fe maps to left brain and Fi to right side. All in all I'd say unless you are in neuroscience it doesn't really matter much where exactly your functions map to.

well i tested 56% left brained and 44% right brained, i seem to mix them well, while i am bad at the skills that right brainers have i have the thinking abilities of abstract thinking that the INFJ style promotes while also being heavily set on my left brained logical side

I'm very badly dyslexic and one of the characteristics of this is that Im neither left nor right brain dominat Im 50/50
I could pass for an INTJ except Im really soppy and lovely and keep falling in love:happy:
My ENFP friend is also dyslexic and 50/50 with the left/right brain thing, it makes for a strange type of creativity.

I love thinking it is my respite from strong emotion. If Im crying real hard, a heavy chemistry text book to read is a soother and stops me. Its like I have 2 brains! bothe however are dyslexic. My thoughts/firing neurons are constantly jumping from one side to another, which is one of the reasons why dyslexics get easily confused and take longer to do things.

I have the charactersistics of both left and fight brained dominant, which is great but unfortunatly at the price of being dyslexic:sad:
The results are very interesting. there does seem to be a pretty even balence. I wonder if this is a Ni and F thing. I say that because Ni is both analytical in a logic sence, but guided by the unconcoius in a less logical way. The F because surely the INTJ would ne hard on logic and fact?? or maybe not?
may be this is an Ni thing??
I kind of wonder though if your just testing certain characteristics and skills on the test. There has been a lot resurch on this and duel brain dominance is very rare because it is a actualy a hidrace. On a brain scan it shows up for dylexcis and autism.
I think it may be that we are complex, we all seem insainly courius about everyhting and are mostly very acedmeic for both the arts and science, and therefor are able to answer test questions in such a way that shows a range of skills and gives a balenced brain result. where as infact a brain scan would show otherwise.

The right side of the brain is capable of developing left side functions, look at people who have sufferd brain damage and strokes in time they recover. the undamaged parts of the brain take over. I think whats happen here is we have INFJ developing left side functions in the right side of the brain!!

It is interesting we tend to score even left/right on this test. I score that way historically. I would be interested to see correlation between results and personality type.

I think the results below are reasonable. I definitely use symbolic, concrete, and intuitive processes (not sure what to make of reality-based) heavily.

I seem to also not do things very sequentially. I was making a sandwich for myself today and it was like I'd get a knife for the mayonnaise but then go to the fridge for some turkey and salami and cheese, grab the lettuce instead, open the jar of mayonnaise but still not put it on yet, open the bag of lettuce and wash some ... and so on. But I tend to find that odd considering how much I like things structured and decisions made. I practically never research something I have to decide on well. I just want to decide and make it work. Literally I picked graduate schools to apply to almost at random from a Princeton review list. If I get into any of them, I consider it ambitious of me that I actually want to tour the schools first before picking one.
