Hello,

I'm new here. I was wondering about your thoughts about a career as a health information technician. Basically, this work involves assembling medical information for patients and techs organize the info. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Why not? It depends on if you like doing that kind of work, really. If you're truly going to make a career of it, liking it is the first step. Also, ask yourself if you could see yourself as an info tech in the future. It's always possible to change jobs, but it's an important question.

I think I'd rather cut my fingers off than do more administrative work. (this is hyperbole, but this is my thought).

That might make a good temporary job while you were still learning something new all the time, but once you'd seen it all or once the office politics started I can't see being happy.

Thanks for the input. I'm now looking at medical transcribing. I don't know. I've worked in an office setting for over 10 years (customer service, I hate people), so I don't even care about office politics. Some people I get along with and others I don't. Some things do bug me, but, eh, I'll live. I just need to find something new to do. In the mean time, I've decided to write more poetry as a hobby. I don't do it every day but, I want to get back on it for my own self fulfillment.
