Hey everyone,

Just putting a little introduction in for myself, though I've been on many forums and have never found introductions to be particularly useful :p. I'm mostly an INTJ though sometimes I feel a disconnect when people get too logical (to the point of impracticability). I'm very much an "I" in that I much prefer talking to individuals than groups, but I still can do the latter if necessary. On a more shallow level, I enjoy ice hockey, hip hop, jazz, alternative, French, Korean, math, programming, and video games.

I'm actually quite open about myself and mostly everything, so I've already made a thread in the INTJ forums about a problem I'm facing regarding forming deep social connections (can't post links, so: /intj-forum-scientists/157323-having-trouble-forming-deep-social-connection.html). Hooray for the comforts of anonymity :).

If you're up for a meaningful chat about something you can always send a message to me. Looking forward to being assimilated into this community.

Hey there. I go by Emma. I have a couple INTJ friends and am fascinated by them. I also like math and programming (I am a computer science major with a minor in mathematics, so I would hope I do). And yes, anonymity is very comforting. I'm borderline E-I. I'm what my friends call an introverted extrovert, or an extrovert with introverted tendencies. So yeah. That's me. Welcome aboard!

Thanks for the warm welcome, Emma. I hope my love of programming lasts as I learn about more complex things like pointers and algorithms and efficiency and all that good stuff. So far I've been happy working with Google's Script (and their cool apps APIs) plus some basic Python/Java.

As an INTJ I find myself preferring to be alone (or preferring to be with individuals), but practically I realize socializing is important, so I might be confused for an extrovert at times too. Especially online. I find this to be pretty useful because there are a lot of things in life that don't happen unless you go out and make them happen :).

Hi there, welcome to PerC. I hope that you enjoy your time here.

I tried French before, never got it and it was difficult. Korean, however, I haven't touched yet. Would you say that it is a difficult language or maybe learning it comes easier to you?

Hello there.

French I'm getting close to proficiency. If I lived in the country for 3-4 months I imagine I would be near-fluent for all intensive purposes (not academically, of course). Korean I am much less proficient, and in fact I mostly learned it because I had a lot of Korean friends in high school.

It's an excellent language and I really enjoyed learning it, but I decided to stop. The reason is that it is easier than Japanese/Chinese to learn to pronounce and speak (one can read almost any word in Korean if they practice for 60 minutes. Their sound palette is very similar to English). The problem is if you want to be fluent in Korean you need to learn a lot of Chinese characters because they are useful for describing more complex things in written form. Because being half-fluent doesn't really interest me, I'm just sticking with basic expressions and enjoying the culture :) 안녕하세요 (an nyeong ha sae yo) (hello)

Pointers weren't so difficult once I got the hang of them. I've pretty much only worked in C# and C++. But if you want to discuss it some time, feel free to send me a message. I gotta get off now unfortunately. Life calls. =P

"S'il vous plaît profiter de café" - c'est une phrase incroyable! Je l'adore.

Une célébrité français qui j'aime est "Rémi Gaillard". Est-ce qu'il y a quelqu'un ici qui l'aime?

See if you can figure out the sentence above (random thread reader)!
Aimer = "to like", qui = "who/whom", Est-ce que = (indicates a question; literally "Is it that..")
