INTJ humor.

An old friend of mine said to me a year back: "You're constantly making fun of people and they don't even realize it". She told me that I have a tendency to insult peoples intelligence indirectly by making up snide sarcastic remarks while in conversation.

When she told me, I couldn't help but laugh because although it's true I've done it subconsciously for as long as I can remember. She was the first to notice however. Sometimes, in hindsight, I'm astounded at the amount of shit I've been able to pull, basically calling people idiots to their face only changing my words slightly, and adjusting the pitch of my voice to make it seem like a compliment. It's this sort of thing that makes it quite obvious that House from House M.D (The series) might be an INTJ.

Of course my humor has many colors but It usually takes people months to understand this particular sarcasm, and because it's so cynical a lot of people will never truly get it. It's like I'm speaking a totally different language than most people when I flex that muscle. Most of the time noone gets it, so it has become an exercise in self-amusement and seeing how far I can push it.

Is there such a thing as a characteristic INTJ humor, and if so, what does it look like?

Sarcasm is my lifelong friend.

I can always count on them.

I'm not sure about the one you are describing, do you do it because they really annoy you and you want to be mean or just for fun? I remember how my ex would called me stupid when my logic failed and it was funny but he didn't want to be mean, just to laugh.
I like it when you make jokes involving logic. It can be hilarious really. I think that's characteristic for INTPs and INTJs.

Apparently Ni is involved with possessing a particular skill in, and having affinity for mocking people and other things. From a number of perspectives.

Also there's puns, euphemisms, double entendres and playing on the numerous meanings of words.

Add Te to that.. and i'd say it's it's much like whacking the shit out of a Piñata from every angle and with various instruments, and not stopping until the sweet insides spill out?.

INTJ's can be hilarious. If you have the right INTJ along, their mastery of humor can be unmatched. INTJs who are aware of their feelings, and others', with a well-developed N are fantabulous.

People are there. I make fun of them for the sake of amusing myself, it's not specifically with a malicious intent. If they actually understood it and got angry I would keep my mouth shut.
I used to slap people with sarcasm and then I would feel bad about it

then I stopped feeling bad about it, fuck them
I have an internal snark line.
Fortunately, I've disconnected it from my mouth (at least about 80% of the time).

But, yeah, I make jokes in my head all the time. It's like Nova said about whacking a pinata from different angles.
When I get bored with reality, I make wordplay. I get bored with conversation and it becomes my pincushion to impale with sharp puns... (rimshot)
Yes, almost everything is a potential victim for sharp, dy, rapier-like wit. It's like shooting fish in a barrel. And the dumber they are , the easierit is, and the more fun. It's amazing what you can get away with-especially in email.
Or on online forums.
Thank you for making me paranoid about everything you post.

Hey, what can I say? It's a gift...
Or on online forums.
Especially on online forums.
I don't analyze my wit, it just happens. It's just like narcolepsy, random and funny.
A couple things I do to amuse myself.

My brand of humor would more accurately described as ironic rather than sarcastic. Mocking and sarcasm usually connote derision, which I stay away from. If I don't like someone, I just ignore them unless they insist on annoying/bullying me. Then the sarcasm comes out and I hit their most vulnerable spots.

Mocking purely in the neutral sense (imitation for comedy) is a favorite, also.

Wordplay is incredibly fun and, surprisingly (to me at least), very attractive to women.

Favorite comedians:
Norm Macdonald
Demitri Martin

Tourette syndrome might be funnier methinks.
Are you guys good at other types of humor? I find myself to also be amazing with sarcasm and science related jokes, but I can't pull out any jokes that the general populace tends to enjoy.

I guess if you're into twitching

Actually, I like the spontaneous cursing part of it. Love to stoically observe the freaked-out expressions from the feeler types.

Wait... are you insinuating there are actually other types of humor besides sarcasm? Man, that's right up there with suggesting that the Higgs Boson particle exists! You better back that up with some hard evidence.

Nope. I can only do sarcasm or dry-british humor (although I'm not British). So people either laugh cause they get it, or they do a nervous laugh of incomprehension. Usually the latter.
