Hello, I am an INTJ and new to this forum (or any forum for that matter). I just recently discovered MBTI and it has been quite a revelation. I have always had a pretty good idea who I am, but MBTI really helps complete the picture. I now have a better understanding of what goes on in my head and how I interact with other people. I really look forward to researching the other personality types to gain a better understanding of others. I have noticed while reading other INTJ threads and forums that some other INTJ's let their personality type define them in a negative way. I am proud of my positive INTJ attributes but view it as a baseline upon which to improve myself (especially in the area of social interaction). I look forward to meeting new members of any personality type.

Welcome to the forum. I joined the forum for the same reasons. I am interested in developing the positive characteristics of my INTJ personality, in part through interacting with other INTJs who have shared their experiences on the forums. Also, I am interested in improve my self in areas such as social interaction. I found getting views from non-INTJs, especially on matters such as social interaction, as been very helpful to me.

Thanks for your reply, iceblock. What are your hang ups with social interactions? Personally, I don't do well with small talk. I find it tedious and hard to initiate. I do realize that it is important in finding compatability that will lead to more meaningful conversation. I also don't do well in groups of people. Too many people talking overloads my ability to anlalyze the conversation. I then have to weigh my words carefully, so by time I'm ready to speak the conversation has moved on.

My hang ups are the same as you mentioned. I cannot stand smalltalk or large groups of people. I like discussing ideas with individuals or small groups of people who are truly interested in meaningful conversation. I am now at a point in my life where my career, which I have been intensely focused on since finishing school, is at a point where I can pursue a meaningful relationship. I am ready to add more depth to my life. I have gotten a lot of great feedback on the forums. I hope you find it as beneficial as I do.

I can relate to this. Especially when I was young people would say I'm so quiet. But I just didn't have a chance to speak. Speaking to one or two is easier. Then once in a while, if I'm in a small group of people I'm comfortable with, I can reply quickly, and wittily, surprising even myself. I think, wow, where did that come from, and how can I be more like that more often?
Anyway, welcome.
