INTJ or INFJ?

So here I am. The more I read about INTJ and INFJ the more confused and unsure I get about what type I fall into. I'm exploring these types for a year now, and I know both of them in big and quite detailed pictures, it's just that there are so many details that they start contradicting each other, and therefore I fit into both types and not into a particular one. You can't have two dominant thinking ways, can you? I'm sort of biased here and can't decide objectively between the two, so any help is really appreciated.

I'm not sure whether I should give you a whole description of myself, or is it that you guys are going to pinpoint some definite distinctions to me. Or maybe you might ask me questions, so it's more clear for me of what info I should give you, rather than writing an entire litany about myself, what I'm definitely capable of, but it would be a torture for some people to read, and therefore I would not receive help, so I'm not risking it. It would be a better help to hear your opinions (valid ones please), rather than just giving me statements and letting myself consider the answer, because I've read dozens of articles and threads about Te and Fe, and none of that really helped me, otherwise I wouldn't be writing here. Obviously a year of exploration is not enough, I hope here are people with a bigger baggage than mine. So yeah, questions are eagerly awaited!

You met someone on the internet you may be in love with.

Do you visit them and see what happens or do you decide it's irrational/crazy and never do it?

I don't know. It seems like T or F is something people would be less likely to be confused about. Do you tend to go with how you feel or try and think things through instead? Do you spend tons of time going over all the possibilities?
I don't really fall in love this easily, but I know that intelligence is a factor number one for me to consider whether the guy is worth a try or not. There are actually two guys, both ENFJ that I have met in real life. There is another one INTJ, he is gonna come visit me. But each of them is really intelligent, we always have what to talk about. I can't deny though that with the INTJs I get the most intellectually fulfilling conversations ever.

You see the thing is that I consider my emotions and I look for logical explanations to justify my emotions. So I guess I rely on both equally.

Yes, I spend loads of times going trough all possibilities, and to my knowledge this is not T/F function, it's Ni.
You could try out the cognitive processes test (which test Ni, Ne, Se, Si, Fi, Fe, Ti, and Te).

Your dominant function should be Ni. This test could tell you whether you prefer Te and Fi as your auxiliary and tertiary functions, or Fe and Ti as your auxiliary and tertiary functions. (The former would indicate INTJ and the later would indicate INFJ). Of course they may not come out this way, but it's a thought, right?

I was having a similar problem trying to figure out whether I was san ISTJ or an ISFJ. Sometimes I would test out ISTJ, and other times I got ISFJ. Many times I would end up getting preferences such as 1% or 12% in either direction, which wasn't very high. I felt that both descriptions were reasonable matches for my personality. The cognitive processes test help me decide I was ISTJ based on the fact that I used, in order, Si, Te, Fi, Fe, Ti. . . and some of the others. Since I put Te and Fi above the other two, the test came out ISTJ. And this helped me decide for myself what I was.

I definitely thiink I am somewhat F-like, but that's okay. The MBTI really just gives a label, and if I have characteristics of two types, I can read about both types and still learn a lot about how I can improve myself.

I have the same question about myself. I posted a thread about it in the INFJ forum. I tested as INFJ recently (in a test administered by a career counselor) but the "F" score was very borderline F-T.

This is funny because I did meet someone on the internet and I flew 5,000 miles away to a country where I'd never been and knew no one, just to meet him!

I too have had a difficult time choosing between INTJ and INFJ. I think that I am INFJ, but I do doubt occasionally.
