Is it common for us to take everything too seriously?

People keep telling me, that I don't know how to have fun, I don't know how to take a joke, I can't tell if someone is playing or not....and yeah stuff like that. I think you know where I'm going with this.

I think some of my friends think that about me, I mean I know how to have a good time, but generally that when I'm excited, getting an adrenaline rush, I'm a bit of a junky:crazy: but there are a only a few people who can make me laugh, the general population just seems to have a lame sense of humor? Idk, I laugh, and I laugh well, but there are certain people who kill my mood, are you just not very outgoing or what? Are you actually having a good time, and you just don't express it the same way other people do?
Its exactly that!!
Hell no. I don't even take this thread seriously.

Why so serious?
I've been told I "can't take a joke," but that's because many jokes aren't very funny. My sense of humor can be quite different compared to most people :D
So you are actually enjoying yourself? Then tell people you are.
Yes I've totally been told that. And I'm *thinking* that my idea of having fun doesn't *look* like their version of having fun. If I'm so absorbed in a book that I forget I'm even in a bedroom - I'm having a BLAST! But I'll look like...well, actually I have no idea because I'm absorbed in the book, but I can only assume I have my serious "I'm in deep thought" look on my face. How can I be serious when I'm 200 years backwards in time with the Highlanders in a pub in Scotland?!?!

Lol....yeah. It's just that I have a different sense of humor than some other people.

Yeah, my sense of humor doesn't go well with everyone unfortunatley. It appears to be different from some other INFJs, as a matter of fact.

He who trys to please everyone pleases no one.
No one has ever told me I don't have a sense of humor or can't take a joke. It's me who's usually saying it.

Hm, sometimes. I have a tendency to be really strict when it comes to my living accommodations (loud roommates especially), and sometimes I can get really serious about somethings that I hold as one of my ideals, but otherwise, my sense of humor is one of my greatest assets. I have some good wit about me.

Pffft, well YEAH. I mean I think I'm HILARIOUS. I laugh at my own jokes constantly. I have no idea what other people's problems are. :proud:

A week ago, I went into WalMart with my work uniform on. A yellow shirt (logos here) and black apron, including name tag and Giant (grocery store) logos and saying on apron. I was in the shampoo isle when I was approached by a lady wanting to know where a scanner was. The upc code of the product she had in her hand was not matching the little sticker on the shelf underneath said product. She needed to know the price. I looked up, to my right and to my left. There across the center isle was a scanner. I pointed to it saying, "Right there". She thanked me and went on her way. This evening I left work and was at the same WalMart in my uniform again. A gentleman stopped me in the center isle asking me where the pharmacy was at. I looked to my left and sure enough there it was a very short distance away. I started laughing. Couldn't stop myself. The man started laughing saying, "Man, I really am tired!" I was rolling by then. Twice mind you, not once but twice, I have been to WalMart in my Giant grocerty store uniform and people think I work at WalMart! Never mind that WalMart employees don't wear aprons! Nor, do they wear yellow shirts...they wear blue shirts! To top it off both times, I was in the right spot and able to help both people with such ease! My sister was with me both times; the second time she said (after she stopped rolling), "You are taking customer service to a new level!" I laughed my tale off all the way through the store, in the check out lane and all the way home!

PS Yes, I love to laugh!

You should get paid

Happened to me also, but I wasn't wearing a uniform.. just a sort of burgundy jacket I never wear, but on that particular day I did... I think it's a very workman uniform colour where I live. There is also a popular forest green used a lot here. I probably looked overdressed for the supermarket and typical age of guys working there. People just assume.

I couldn't help the customers though, They were asking me something complex (x_x)

Well, they don't even see it when we are making a joke so how would they be able to tell if we are overly serious? Just a thought.

I hear sometimes that I take things to seriously or that I need to lighten up. Mostly by people I barley know who are overly outgoing and think they're helping me out .I don't hold it against them. I understand them and when Im comfortable with them they will understand that I can't be fake or superficial .Like laughing at things that aren't funny and pretending were best friends when we only realy know of each other .
