ISFJ thing?

I can't log in everyday...but I have one thing that is a quirk that stresses me out.

I hate when it says "___ unread posts". I want to go click on every message just so I can have a clean slate! But its virtually impossible...because people are always posting :)

Its sort of a feeling like I have that many messages I should be reading, but aren't...so I feel, overwhelmed and behind.

Is this an ISFJ thing? I am the same way with my online classes and when it says "unread discussion posts" I don't read them, I just go through and click on them so it goes away. Why do I let this little thing bother me?

I do that to so it's not just an ISFJ thing.
More like a curiosity thing and a "tie up loose ends" thing. I'd say it's more of a J thing, but McGoogle says he does it too.

An internet-addiction thing? XD
The addiction part may describe me. I actually didn't always do this on this site, I mostly do it to be sure that I know when a thread I'm interested in actually posts and so I can get rid of the boring ones.
I do this too, expect I normally read every new post that is posted in those threads. I think of it like a game to get the unread posts to 0 for 30 seconds, but I end up taking to long reading each new post that it rarely happens, unless I read super fast.
If you want to clear away the posts, there's a sort of button on the PC page, under the various fora, to Mark Forums Read. That'll give you a clean slate.

What I do is I only read the new threads or ones I'm interested in reading. Once I've read those, I either start on the others or mark them as read.
It takes me a while to actually catch up with every post made daily, but I do. Somehow.

I was thinking of pointing that out too, but the problem seems to be that she wants to read everything that's posted but can't in the amount of time she has.

I find that it's often a good idea to start out with any threads I've subscribed to and work my way through the list of New Posts from there.

I hav a compulsion to open every unread thread as well just to clear that unread post count.
I read them all...if Idon't it drives me crazy. I am the same way with legit emails...I have to read them...I have to clean out the inboxes before I go to bed at night. I think it's a little OCD of me, but then again, I have a bit of MONK in me...
I don't do this.
It drives me nuts! I don't have to read them, it just can't say I have all these "unread" posts. It stresses me out....haha.

Haha. I get the same way. I like reading all the new post. A lot of the threads are interesting.
True I do too but like yesterday I logged in and it was over 3,000 new posts! I just don't have that kinda time! Well, not always.
This may be because of two reason one is you are a lazy person or you dont think that htere will be anything which is important for you.

I am pretty lazy
Yes, I think it is an ISFJ thing. To feel that you have to control all details (even though they might not be THAT important, and get stressed if you don't. I know ISFJ:s that are exactly the same. Si+Fe is a powerful combination :)

Same. I read everything I want to read, and then hit Mark Forums Read. It knocks it down to 0 and ensures that when I go to read it again, I'm reading what is actually new.

Somehow I missed this post...probably because I was rushing through trying to mark all the posts as read...but THANK YOU. you are a life savor. Now I can just concentrate on the posts I'm interested in!!
Actually that is a SJ thing I believe.
I feel the same way, I like to be up to date with most things, but when the numbers are baffling then I have the ability to let it go. I ain't no perfectionist! :p
