I have found that the ISFP women I've met recently have been amongst the slowest persons in the universe when it comes to replying on text-messages. It usually takes 4-8 days before I get an answer.

Is this a common thing? If so, how do you reason? The optimist in me says it's a good thing, but I am still somewhat annoyed since it dissables me from pegging their actual interest-level.

It's a "thing" for me more or less. I wait because I don't feel like putting in the mental effort that it requires, so I procrastinate until I feel that I have to, and when I do reply I usually only end up answering what I thought was the important part of the message. But I also do that with my mail, I usually don't even open the letters containing the bill until I am to pay them.

Text messages just feels so impractical, and I generally feel that if someone can't be bothered to pick up the phone and call me it's not all that important anyway.

I reply text very fast. I always have my phone with me. If I get a text message, then I will reply it immediately. It makes me feel I have no life, really... I text fast as well. In fact, I prefer text messages over phone calls, unless I am interested in you.

I reply quickly if I actually have my phone on me and notice it.

It's kind of a vicious cycle, I don't get many people texting or calling me, so I leave my phone somewhere lying around because I'm tired of carrying it when it's not serving a purpose. Then someone will actually try texting or calling me and I'll miss it and don't respond for awhile which leads them to not want to contact me again while I'm sitting there trying to carry my phone around constantly so I don't miss them again.

To tell you the truth though, I like to get lost in what I'm doing a lot and having my phone right there distracts my concentration. I much prefer to only have it around when I'm in the in betweens of doing things on my own. When I'm doing something and someone bursts in, I lose my train of thought and they take me out of the zone, this is what happens when my phone goes off whilst I'm working and I prefer to avoid it. There are times that I'm in social mode and if you contact me then, you're golden, but other than that eh... Maybe she doesn't know how to respond well, I prefer to show my true feelings over talking about them, or maybe she is having trouble getting alone time and is overwhelmed by all the people interacting with her.

We need time to think and process what people say and to create a good response.

No, I try to text back in a reasonable amount of time. I used to text back immediately but lately I've been slacking and I kind of text when I get around to it.

What I don't really do, is text people to start conversations or make small talk. I prefer to talk to people face-to-face if possible, also there's no one that I really look forward to talking to anymore. Not to say, I don't have friends I enjoy talking to; I just don't have anyone who I look forward to texting anymore.

Oh god yes, I do exactly this. People always complain about how I don't reply to them, and it's either because 1.) I don't wanna talk 2.) I don't know what to reply or 3.) It's not important. I always assure people that I do read their messages, which I do, but for some reason many of them insist I send a reply.

Lol, I'm horrible at replying to texts as well. I don't see texting as a methods of conversation, even though i should and i know it is. So i find myself not replying very fast. sometimes it takes days because I only check my phone once a day sometimes.

Also, When i get a text I hate having to drop whatever I am doing and think about how to reply and all that shizzle. I do not like being interrupted when I'm in the middle of something. So I delay it till I'm ready and know exactly how to reply. that might be 10 minutes, and hour or a day. occasionally never... I know :(

Sometimes i will reply lighting fast, but that is only when I'm in one of those moods to talk to people.

But it works both ways, because when i text people, i don't expect a fast reply. I don't mind however long it takes, as long as they get back to me.

I don't get many texts, so any I do get I tend to respond to promptly, and I always keep my phone on me.

If people texted me all the time though I can see myself occasionally leaving my phone behind purposefully. Some days I don't like being reminded that other people exist and stuff needs doing and aaargh.

When I'm expecting a reply, I wait and stare at the phone until I get it.
Just reading that makes me cringe. It's one of the worst things I can think of to stare at a phone hoping that a person read my text message. I'd much rather just try to reach that person by ringing them and get a straight-up answer if it's important. And like @Leeoflittlefaith I even have days where I'm not even bothering to answer my phone ringing. It kinda get's on peoples nerves I think...

Maybe this is just me then...
If I don't reply ASAP, then I think I'm being rude. Lol
Maybe, there's a lot of things that can make it so as well. For example social phobia or just strong events that makes you think that way. The types doesn't account for our experiences.

Well, the first person I text'd always replied fast, and if I didn't reply, he would keep on spamming for days. I guess that's when I started thinking slow replies tick people off. Besides, most of the people who text me are people who I see on a daily basis. I dislike confrontations. Better to reply than getting bitched at.

Ooh, you'll wait a long time for me. I don't own a smartphone (never had an ordinary cell phone either) and have not yet found the need to have one. Enslavement is not my thing.

Don't you miss the good ol' days when people were happy with just e-mail (from the computer) and voice mail and they didn't have to know everything about your life and your whereabouts?

Same here. I hate hearing that thing go off when I'm really concentrating or when i am in no mood to socialise. Just because someone has my phone number doesn't mean i appreciate them calling me up, and make me drop whatever I am doing for a `simple chat`

It gets on my friends nerves so bad when I have the no phone days xD

I'm not so bad with text messages; I'll leave them a day, if that. But longer messages, like comments? Oh god I take the longest time to reply to those.. :'D If I can't think of something to say back, I just get stumped , and then go off and blow some bubbles or something. :U
Then suddenly it's 3 days later and WOOPS forget to reply to that comment/email/message. It's a big issue for me.. 8|;;
