Hello everyone,

I stumbled on to the book “Do What You Are” by Paul & Barbara Tieger when I was about 35 years old years. Reading it was an earth shattering experience. I discovered that I am an ISFP and suddenly the whole world made sense.

Not understanding who I was (and feeling really different everyplace I went) made life very difficult…and interesting. I never seemed to fit in with any group; and I tried to fit in with a lot of different groups. While I never felt completely comfortable with any of those groups, I was almost always welcomed into them. I was accepted pretty much everywhere, but I never felt at home.

I started adulthood not knowing what I wanted to do and having no idea how to figure it out. I felt lost every day. My string of unsatisfying jobs includes (but are not limited to) bricklayer, landscaper, soldier, security officer, lobster boat deckhand, haunted house ghoul, optician, forest firefighter, retail sales associate, data entry clerk, radiological waste handler, dog trainer, wildlife rehabilitation technician, janitor, appointment setter, swimming pool installer, park ranger, physical security specialist, and finally environmental program coordinator.

I think the worst part of being unsatisfied with my career choices was that I did not know why I was unsatisfied in the first place. I’ve spent the past seven years playing to my strength and pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I am a completely different human being than I was at the age of 35. I don't feel lost anymore.

I’m here to learn about myself as well as others, share what I’ve learned during my 42 years, and discover new aspects of people’s personalities. I’m extremely interested in learning how to identify and relate to the other 94% of the population who are not like me.

Hey Deano. Great to hear that personality typing helped you in finding your inner self. I'm here for very similar purposes.

This is not meant to be a commercial, but I recommend checking once in a while the INTP sub-forum -- lots of (weird) fun going on there :).
