Hi all,

I'm a 22 year old who's been self-typed as an INFJ (I've taken some of the freebie online tests that have affirmed that)...I've been lurking on these forums for a little while and recently decided to sign up and start posting. I don't know for sure my Enneagram type; I read a book on it quite a few years ago when I was maybe 15 and my mom said, "You should read this and let me know which one you are. So I did, but the problem was I didn't feel like I fit into one; that both the 4 and 5 types described me pretty well. She responded with, "I think you're a 4" and I said, "Well, no I actually think I'm both," ..."You can't be both! That's not how it works" And I come on here to find that, yes, the way I interpreted it actually is how it works for most people. (My mom had only picked it up out of casual interest, so even at that age I didn't trust her to tell me that it couldn't work that way haha)

Yet what I don't understand is, what's the difference between say, 4w5 or 5w4? And is there a somewhat comprehensive test I could take to figure that out?

Oh, also as far as introductions go...
I guess I should say that I'm very passionate about music, and permit me to say that I feel I'm quite gifted in that as well. It's actually this metaphoric exploration of life that I achieve through writing and improvising with music that really makes me believe that I'm an INFJ. That, plus my tendency to analyze and rehash all my interactions with people makes me think it's the best fit. I can identify quite a lot about someone upon a first meeting that makes him/her uncomfortable sometimes. I live with one of my best friends who's an INFP and he is generally very surprised of how accurate my first impressions are of his friends.

I'm looking forward to spending more time here learning from all of you!

No, you can't be both. However you often have a wing. The difference between 4w5 and 5w4 is that one is a four with five tendencies and another is a five with four tendencies. It might sound subtle but it really isn't since it's all got to do with core fear of the type.

Ah, the core fear...it has also been quite a while since I've explored Enneagrams, so that might have something to do with it. I think I know which I might be, but I'll have to explore some more until I know for certain.
