Is there a group of personality types that appears to be dominant in rehab clinics?
What are the types that end up drinking too much, too often?
What personality types are to be found in drug abuser therapies?

What about the opposite, statistically, what types aren´t self-indulgent with this kind of stuff, and why?

Do ENFP and ESTP have this tendency?

Well addiction can be both psychological and physiological so its hard to say if its specific to a given personality type. All types can have their vices.

I think some addictions are more pronounced in Fe types because social attitudes that speak negatively on their actions can cause guilt which creates an addiction cycle. So you might notice some Fe types who seemingly live two different lives, pastor by day, watching porn online at night (when no one is around to judge). This seeming dichotomy and its accompanying social views could really cause problems for someone and send them into an addiction spiral. But certainly is by no means a universalism.

But of course any type can become addicted. It really depends on the nature of the addiction. Gambling addiction is different than alcoholism. I know a few, otherwise well-adjusted ESFPs who turn into raging drunks and don't know when to stop. And an ENFJ with a porn addiction, so it's all relative.

I don't know if its true or not, but I remember reading this about INTPs.
I can see that. Careful though, the OP asked about "alcoholics or drug abusers", not people who casually drink or smoke weed/do psychs in college. =)

To answer the question, I don't think there are particular types. I think it has more to do with genetic predisposition, environmental conditions, and unhealthy individuals.

Drug abuse and alcoholism are more prevalent in people with issues; not certain MBTI types, I'm pretty sure.

Although tough times and life experiences may effect certain MBTI types more negatively than others, but it's of my knowledge that anyone can suffer from addiction. Hmmm.

I guess the next question would be, is it reasonable to conclude that those who are more likely to casually use drugs are also more likely to end up abusing those drugs?

for me as INTP (former ENTP lol) i know i never wanted to drink or smoke weed alone - i often initiated others because it was always more fun in a group and only in a group it had its charms. Plus people could always drive me into it - but i get enough once - gets boring if its too often XD plus i know my limits and i know how to control my life in general

Maybe, but not necessarily. Example: At my school, it's relatively common for physics/math majors to abuse stimulants (ADD medication). It's also true that those people are more likely to be INTP's than the general population. However, most of the serious drug/alcohol abusers I know are not in school currently and I don't know them well enough to know their type.
