Physical wounds caused by your INTP-ness

2374 Views 26 Replies 24 Participants Last post by  Sava Saevus
I have two subtle scars in my forehead.
Both of them were caused by absent-mindedly opening doors and brutally smashing them into my face.
The second time was extra hilarious because I had a costumer-meeting and I did not realize I was bleeding like I had been struck by an axe at the very center of my forehead, until I noticed blood dripping down from my nose to the table. At first, I thought it was my nose bleeding but then I touched my face and had my entire hand covered in blood.
Oh gosh, why didn't the person I was talking to even point it out...?
I kinda wish it would have been a blinddate, that would have made such an awesome scene in a comedy-horror movie...

Feel free to share your embarrassing stories of your INTP-clumsiness.

I have a few. I don't know if this is an INTP related thing or not, but here goes-

--
Incident one:

I believed running in my room would be good enough exercise, so I ran from one side to another. I had earphones at full blast (that's one and half times the "recommended volume". Lol) One side had a wall, and the other had a glass window. To rebound, I would push the wall/window and run to the other side each time. But while running, I hit that thick glass window so hard with my hand, that there was no rebound. My hand went through and the window shattered. Everyone in the nearby buildings heard and came running to their windows. I ended up getting 8 stitches.

And 7 months later, the EXACT same thing happened again. Got 14 stitches and some worse scars.

You'd think I'd learn from my mistakes. Well, my mother did. There's no longer a glass in my window, just plywood. There'll never be a glass window there again. Both times, the doctor said the cuts missed my main artery by a centimeter (don't know if he said that to milk more money for the stitches or sincerely, probably sincerely, because he's a great family friend).

--
Incident two:

As a child (I mean 7-10 years old), I always "dared" myself to do things. Like, "punch a steel bar and withdraw your hand just 1 centimetre away from the bar, avoid getting hurt!" and stuff like that. One time, I was alone with my cousin sister when we were both 10 years old. I wanted to see if the entire, massive bed could catch fire with a simple matchstick, so I lit a matchstick and dropped it on the bed. (Thankfully) The flame went out as soon as I dropped it. My cousin told my entire family.

Thankfully, they love me and don't call me crazy.

Cholecystitis probably caused by losing weight very fast*, cause I feel Ti can try to "hack" things and go to extremes.

Since there is very likely a stone in my bile duct and I'll need to have the gallbladder out, I think that counts as a physical wound.

*But I still feel a little frustrated that no one ever told me that was unhealthy...especially since losing the weight wasn't all that fun either...

I used to have a problem with gravity; I've lost track of how many times I used to stumble walking on stage, stumbled and took out a row of chairs, and stumbled into a random tree.

And then there was that time I was meeting with a client-and walked straight into a sliding glass door. Yes, I am your attorney. Yes, I went to Law School and passed the CA bar. Yes, I just walked face-first into a sliding glass door in front of you. (Though, to be fair, the translator did the exact same thing a few minutes later-the way that door was designed, there is no way to tell when it's open).

I think its a lack of Se thing, really. So, an Ne thing.

1) I somersaulted into the corner of the TV once. It was back in the day when TVs were as deep as they are wide, and this was a very, very big TV for the time.
2) According to my mom, I ran into a wall and got a scar on my forehead. I was pretty sure that was from somersaulting into the TV, but she probably knows better.
3) walked around a lego structure seven times to make it fall down (Jericho), got dizzy, and fell on them. I was three, and had to get stitches in my eyebrow. There's a little line where I can't grow eyebrow hair.
4) was running out into a field to play with my aunt and uncle's dogs, didn't notice the massive metal things in my way, tripped over them, and got a huge gash in my chest. So my boob has a faint scar across it. Thankfully I was only 11, so there was nothing there yet.

Related:
5) When walking through doorways, I sometimes calculate only for my head, so my shoulder runs into it.
6) I clean houses and often spray myself in the back of the head when I turn on the water to rinse out a shower. This happens at least 50% of the time.

From my own firsthand experience, a bed is HIGHLY flammable. You are a lucky sonofabitch.

The only things that left scars are from when I was little and ran into a lot of things, including a door twice on my forehead and to the left of my eye, and a very sharp lantern on my knee.
A more interesting example from last year includes me re-enacting Attack on Titan on a trampoline (what a nerd, I know,) attempting to leap forward but instead accidentally flipping off of the trampoline onto the ground. My only reaction was lying on the ground, looking up to my friend, and in a monotone saying "Well. That hurt."

Someone else said it is a lack of Se coupled with Ne and that seems to jive with my experiences :

So from a broader perspective, my observation is that generally all my significant, close to permanent damage situations have come from total focus on the object of focus coupled with a complete lack of awareness (at that time) of my surroundings - that is where things are in relation to me. Also, people around me would invariably comment "How did you end up doing that?". Like it was unbelievable and not something expected in the course of doing something really risky. So, none of these were risky endeavors taken with the full knowledge of the risk - like for example an Se type might undertake.

1. As a boy, i was running to the kitchen (this was really young) and there was a nail protruding out of the frame of the kitchen door at exactly the right height of my eye. It went through the eyelid leaving a scar and left my eye undamaged.

2. As a boy, i was playing tag using a tennis ball and it was played on a elevated grass meadow. The elevation was about 4 feet and there was a vertical drop of 4 feet onto a dirt playground. Chasing the ball, I completely lost track of the elevated portion and dove for the ball as it crossed over. Landed directly on my face. Many injuries to face, but turns out no teeth were broken.

3. In later years, very simple things. Colliding with others in the course of playing a sport causing injury and consternation. Which is why I started avoiding sports like basket ball or football. And I am extra careful when playing soccer with children.

Riding motorbike down road with a bus lane.

In the UK motorbikes can use bus lanes. Car drivers often forget this.

Car driver took a left-hand turn and cut totally into my path.

I crashed into his bonnet and flew over the front of my bike. Got an epic hole in my leg. I'll post an image here if people want to see it. I dunno what the gore rules are on this forum are though. It's not that bad actually, but quite a deep hole. It's not wide or bloody, but most people seem to think it's pretty gross.

Anyway. I could have possibly slowed down more before hitting his bonnet. I think I saw his car and was all, "Hmmm. Wait. Wwwaaaait. Hmmm. What's happening here?" Then next thing I knew I'd hit him.

The INTPness is in the fact that I maybe took a long time to react because it was a situation I'd not been in before. I find I do this a lot - react badly in new situations because I haven't experienced them before.

Disclaimer to any snooping authorities: It was still the other driver's fault. He pulled in front of me without even knowing I was there. If I didn't hit him I'd have still ended up in some other situation, like having to skid my bike to a crashing halt, or swerve to crash elsewhere, or slide under his car or something.

It doesn't related to INTP
The fact that this was the first reply - followed by a ton of examples which do show the INTP relevance of this - makes this thread even more hilarious

Thank you for sharing your stories, it's always good to remember you're not the only one.
This was my reaction too, at the very moment it happened.
i don't know if this is intp related, but yeah
3 or 4-year-old me wanted to see if i could stand up in a wagon pulled by my friend at top speed. down a hill. yeah. needless to say, it did not end well. split my chin wide open.
lots of running into things too, but that seems to be a theme.

No scars but I'll get random cuts on my thighs or arms with no idea how they got there because I was too distracted thinking when it happened to notice the pain
