Greetings prodigious PerC dwellers!

So I was browsing through the community and noticed that we’ve never had an official PersonalityCafe contest. So here you go!

Contest:
Provide 1 fantastic/creative idea for a future contest.

Rules:

  1. Provide any contest idea relevant to personality development (MBTI, Enneagram, Psychology etc.) or PersonalityCafe.com.
  2. Only 1 contest idea entry per member, so think long and hard!
  3. When posting your entry, please be descriptive. Provide as much details as possible.
  4. No duplicates! So if an idea you had has already been entered, you cannot input the same entry!
  5. Only users with 25+ or more post may enter this contest.
  6. ONLY post entries in this thread! Any other post that is not an entry will be deleted. If persistence to derail the thread consistently occurs, corrective measures will be taken.

Winners

  1. 1 winner will be chosen according to the number of “Thanks” they receive. Note that this program is still being tested. So if it does not work to our expectations, we will find a new way of determining the winner. Though, realize that we have ways of determining if people are cheating. It will not be worth it! So please Play Fair!
  2. If a tie occurs, we will have a face off via anonymous poll voting thread.

Prize
Any size and gender T-Shirt with PersonalityCafe logo and your username on it. I'll be adding an image of it as soon as I get the t-shirt. (More options for prizes in the future!)

Contest End Date:
December 31, 2010

Please note that even though you do not win this contest, we might use your idea for future contest events. The purpose of this thread is to gather up and compile the best contest ideas for the future!

If you have any questions or concerns, please utilize this thread...

Looking forward to your entries!

This may not be creative, but it engenders creativity.

Those familiar with me probably know where I'm going with this.

A writing contest! Whoo! I'm thinking fiction, but a nonfic contest would be interesting too. Of the few people I know here, many of them are terrific writers, and I see no reason participation wouldn't meet the criteria.

It could be any genre, be it Sci-fi, Fantasy, Thriller, Romance, or otherwise.

Again, not really creative, but I think it would be fun.

Cheers!

A photography contest in which the participants must take 16 photos - one corresponding to each of the MBTI types. :proud:

To elaborate, each contestant submits a photo of their own that they believe represents one of the types in some way. Said photo can be a close-up of an object, a portrait, a landscape.. You know how it goes. No restrictions on the content as long as it can in some way be connected to a type (and almost everything can be, methinks). Rinse and repeat for the remaining 15 types. So all in all, you enter with all 16 photos that you've taken with your own two hands, and cross your fingers the community will like 'em. :p

I think the contest subjects should be varied from week to week so everyone could participate.

The first contest I would love to participate in is "Post a picture of the perfect spouse for Happy". That could provide some pretty interesting results. I think that one would draw in lots of posters. Then Happy could select the one that he likes best.

Maybe a day in the life picture. People could take pictures of the school they go to, the train they catch, where they work, a scenic picture of thier area, a landmark, thier favorite place to get pizza or coffee, thier favorite place to walk... All different elements can be included, night, day, rain, sun, snow, stormy.

Just a picture of a place that the person feels represents them the most. I would love to see a picture that gave you a peak into someone's life! It would be a a nice personal way to get to know someone and for users to express themselves. Considering everyone lives all around the world it could be quite interesting.

How about coming up with a skit that represents the kind of person you think that you might be like in 5 years or less
or hope to become :)

"xxxx" Is the Best!

Basically you create a print Ad "marketing" why your particular personality type is the best. Obviously we're looking for some funny, creative ways to persuade not a list of facts. It would require some knowledge of photoshop or another image creating product...But this is the 21st century.
Create new logo for Personality Cafe. (upper left, top of page)

16 christmas Haiku's: One for every MBTI type stereotyping them and how they view the [insert subject. holidays?] based on personality.

Good luck doing it..... A real challenge, even for a copywriter...

(This kind of contest is always won by those with the largest following.... but creative ideas are always fun)

A PostSecret-themed contest:

We all have secrets, we're all trying to find or figure out something, and we all know each other-- so let's not limit expression of our "confessions" to the digital world.

Use any medium you want, whether it's magazine photos, photography, a page ripped from a book, Sharpie, a collection of sticky notes, WHATEVER, to express what's on your mind, as long as the end result is something that can be mailed neatly as a postcard or letter.

Examples can be found here: PostSecret

Mail it to the designated PerC P.O. box, and then once it's posted, the judging could be based on (but not limited to) some of the following categories:

Most inspirational
Most random
Most artistic - Strong use of color, dexterity in brushwork, gorgeous penmanship, etc.
Most creative - Something that makes you really go, "WOW, I never would've thought of that!"
Most neurotic
Funniest
Saddest
Most sinful

And the list goes on.

And then we could compile everyone's into a book.

If we want to take a more MBTI- and learning-centered route, it would be a good idea to have a contest to see who can make the best, most creative, and most informative conceptualizations for the types or cognitive functions, or both.

Whether it's likening each type/function to an animal/plant/food/whatever, making diagrams to help with visualization, characterizing each of the types and/or functions via story/poem/skit, or something totally zany and new, the idea would be to find an exciting way to both enlighten newbies and hit home with veterans.

Entries would be judged upon learning value, creativity, general appeal, and presentation. The key is to make it fun, exciting, and very understandable/informative all at once: a whole package. Written form would be fine as long as it's still interesting, but images, videos, etc. are great ways to make learning more about MBTI that much more engaging, and sometimes a non-textual approach provides new insight in ways that written words cannot.

Basically, let your nerdy imaginations run wild! Enlighten and entertain us all!

I have a suggestion. It's not exactly a contest, more like a platform/game. Here is how it works:
In the beginning, everyone is at the root of the tree and you can make a new branch by posting a challenge/task/riddle or any other way of limiting who can answer. Everyone who passes moves to the end of that branch and can make a new gate that only other people who have passed the previous one can see. Any member can start a branch at the end of one he passed. You can go in different directions at the same time.

  • Everyone can participate.
  • It's a form of playful social interaction.
  • It gets people with similar interests in the same rooms.
  • It's continuous, creative and challenging.
  • More interesting ideas can be implemented by the members of each room.

It is not strictly a contest and it could be hard to implement but it will be fun.

How about we make the competition about coming up with the most creative username using the Jungian functions and MBTI letters etc..?

e.g. NiTe Owl, INFPersonality Cafe and IntotheNightlyTransparentJungle etc.

Then a judge (Happy, Treebob etc) could pick 20 and we could vote for the best in a poll.

We could have a competition in which we take pictures or videos of ourselves acting like each of the sixteen types, dressed in clothing we think someone of each type would wear, then have the members vote on who is best at impersonating the other types. This could be done in either of two ways. If we decided to make videos instead of using photos, we could each make a single video in which we perform as every type, or we could have a separate competition in each type's forum, so the members could selectively decide which types to represent. In the second scenario, there would be sixteen different sub-competitions, meaning there would be sixteen winners, and it would be possible for the same person to win more than once.

I have a rather simplistic idea. Why not have a contest where a member wrote what typology means to them with an analogy. The most unique interpretation would be the winner. It could be determined through poll voting.
