Greetings prodigious PerC dwellers!

So I was browsing through the community and noticed that we’ve never had an official PersonalityCafe contest. So here you go!

Contest:
Provide 1 fantastic/creative idea for a future contest.

Rules:

  1. Provide any contest idea relevant to personality development (MBTI, Enneagram, Psychology etc.) or PersonalityCafe.com.
  2. Only 1 contest idea entry per member, so think long and hard!
  3. When posting your entry, please be descriptive. Provide as much details as possible.
  4. No duplicates! So if an idea you had has already been entered, you cannot input the same entry!
  5. Only users with 25+ or more post may enter this contest.
  6. ONLY post entries in this thread! Any other post that is not an entry will be deleted. If persistence to derail the thread consistently occurs, corrective measures will be taken.

Winners

  1. 1 winner will be chosen according to the number of “Thanks” they receive. Note that this program is still being tested. So if it does not work to our expectations, we will find a new way of determining the winner. Though, realize that we have ways of determining if people are cheating. It will not be worth it! So please Play Fair!
  2. If a tie occurs, we will have a face off via anonymous poll voting thread.

Prize
Any size and gender T-Shirt with PersonalityCafe logo and your username on it. I'll be adding an image of it as soon as I get the t-shirt. (More options for prizes in the future!)

Contest End Date:
December 31, 2010

Please note that even though you do not win this contest, we might use your idea for future contest events. The purpose of this thread is to gather up and compile the best contest ideas for the future!

If you have any questions or concerns, please utilize this thread...

Perhaps, maybe, a piece of art (be it an original story, original poem, original song, original painting, original video, or whatever, depending on that person's natural skill) that encapsulates your personal philosophy on life. For the very analytical types, we could even include original equations or original proofs as a criteria. I think we could get very creative, thought-provoking, healthy things out of that.

For a first contest I suggest something more accessible.

How about a community wide voting for members who represent their type in a good light, and good manner.

Not the best, or even stereotypical, just when you think of XwX, or XXXX, you think of this person.

Winners get a hug from Lance or something, and bragging rights(from the hug, STDs have never been so joyed!).

Perhaps a dialogue or forum, maybe even a skit with 8 characters. Each one being each cognitive function. Wit and creativity, as well as typology knowledge would be essential.
I'd leave it in the hands of the overlords to find a topic and result-ion. I did a project for a religion class in which we needed to do that with theologians and it worked out well.

I think we should ask a question and have everyone answer according to each MBTI type. For example, we can ask : "What would you do/say/think if...you woke up with a big bruise on your body and had no idea how it got there?"
And then everyone has to answer with that they think every type would say...like for example, an INFJ could say..they would think they got abducted by aliens and would look further into it (I'm using INFJ cuz that's what I am, and it's just an example), I think this could be pretty funny and creative.
Whoever gets the most accurate answers according to the types, wins, either by players' votes/thanks or whoever is in charge of this contest.

I got it! Make an MBTI calendar!

Each month can be a different type, and you choose 12 of the 16 types. Perhaps you associate a month with a type, so you could be able to intertwine them. The top part of the opened out calendar could be a collage (quotes, pictures, art, photos, etc.) representing or symbolizing the type and capturing their essence.

The actual monthly scheduling outline on the bottom half of the calendar could be used to mark holidays that you think that type would create including name of holiday, how and where it would be celebrated etc.

You could also plan out their month for them and appointments for activities and hobbies and interactions. The Intellect types might have an appointment on their calendar "Observatory at 7 bring telescope".

Since this would be an intensive undertaking perhaps just do one month of a calendar or one each month for a year?

I think this would be totally cool, hope you agree! :proud:

PerC Icon Photo Contest

Post a photo of yourself holding a PerC logo while standing with an iconic atraction somewhere in the world.
(For example, a photo of yourself holding a PerC poster while cuddling a koala, or while standing next to the Eyfel tower.)

- medium to long term competition, (6-12months to allow for travel plans to be made and to get your photo posted)
- be as creative as possible in the placement of yourself in the photo, (eg. absailing in the Grand Canyon, planting a PerC flag on top of Everest - with perspective photography...)
- If you don't want your face in the photo, make sure you have at least some body part in the photo, (eg. a hand holding the logo, the logo on your back...)
- no edited photos allowed
- one photo per entrant
- photos to be judged on basis of creativity and difficulty of placement
- top ten selected by PerC Administation team, and then winner chosen via polling, (or some variation)
- prize (whatever PerC deems worthy.)

An internet scavenger hunt based on MBTI concepts.

There will be a list of keywords such as the cognitive functions (all 8) , personality types (all 16), etc.

Participants have to seek out Images that best represent these concepts, then post them in one reply to the contest OP.

The winner is the person who's set of Images gets the most thanks.

Come up with new nicknames for the type forums.

ex. XXXX Forum --- "The Undecideds" nicknamed Purgatory

An idea from the forums themselves: Write a short story set in a village where everybody is your personality type. What would it physically look like? How would its culture differ from the other Type-Towns? How do the citizens feel about everyone having the same Type? A page or two of fiction on the XXXX Village.

Maybe something along the lines of fiction or poetry or scripting, but using a specific MBTI type as the protagonist (that isn't your own!) - it would be an interesting insight into how other people view certain types
And the genre probably wouldn't matter, then.

Yeah, it's not really a fully-formed idea. I'll have to wait for a week to get it sorted out

Maybe we should come up with new badges, or other monthly awards.

And a side note, maybe we should have member of the year. :)

Speculative sci-fi/apocalypse fiction, juxtaposed with a view at different personality types. It would be fun to see how different types would portray the end.

I'm going to personally go with a more unusual, yet relevant, idea for this. A personality Self-Description/Impression contest in which members, through means of their own liking, creatively and thoroughly endeavor to not only understand themselves better, but also to share that self-understanding with everyone else. I wouldn't limit the manner by which the self-description may be done, so that all forms of media may be acceptable, so long as they are relevant to one's own personality. In fact, perhaps members can also be a little more all-encompassing if they want: creating a self-description/impression which takes into account the whole of all human personality, ranging from the intellectual INTJ's to the humble ISFJ's. Perhaps people can contrast themselves with people of other types somehow. Perhaps they can create context which shows how they fit into the whole we call human personality. Or perhaps they can show how unique they may be or how well they represent their own personality type.

In the end, it should be a creative self-learning exercise which allows members to really get into this personality stuff and personally explore—artistically, creatively, or otherwise—how they really are and what their psychological characteristics are from a number of potential perspectives. "Know Thyself" has been the greatest motto of psychology and I think it would be great if people managed to develop a little more understanding of themselves from this. One person may wish to do this through the written method; others may wish to paint, draw, or paste pictures. I think any form will be great so long as the person manages to capture their own essence in some manner with regard to personality typology of some sort (particularly myers-briggs).

Hopefully you guys like the idea; hopefully it would work out well if it's chosen.
Have a nice day.

The contest can be to prove indeed that the people of PerC are prodigious as the OP states.

For example: I recommend doing so by measuring the P50 height and weights of the forum members and then cross checking that against the p50 of the average world statistics.

Make three motivational posters that you think are particularly representative of your type. Forum members vote on the sets they like best.

I like the idea of a creative expression of "Who am I?" whether through visual art, writing or philosophical text. The participants would simply be giving their answer to the question "Who am I?" in whatever way they feel comfortable. That is the most basic question of one's identity and I believe the purpose of this forum in a way.

A game. Either by a small tournament, or one where many people can play at once, or both. It would have to be one that is free, hopefully not too big of a download, and can be picked up quickly. There are plenty that fit these requirements, a thread could be made to solicit more specific possibilities. Web based games would be especially easy to manage.
