The basic purpose of the following exercise should be fairly clear:

Please think up and post ten random single-digit numbers.

Edit: New rule: No negatives.

Here you go.

May I ask what is the reason for that beside for having random fun? ;)

Didn't think of negatives.

The purpose is to see what patterns there are.

I see, sounds interesting. Edited the post so the last two digits are positives without posting the same numbers again.

The patterns in that should be obvious, but hey, what can I say? I like prime numbers, especially 3. Had the prompt requested up to two digits, the strand would be 1*, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 15*, 23, 33*, 37.

Sadly, these are the exact strands that come to mind when someone tells me to think of X-amount of random numbers, which makes it not very random at all...but those are the first ones that come to mind. -shrugs-

*1, 15, and 33 aren't prime, but they are acceptable in my mind. 1 may as well be a prime, even though it doesn't fit the official definition, 15 is just 3 sets of 5 to me, and 33 is a visually doubled up three (as well as being 3 sets of 11).

That doesn't sound random to me.

That depends on your definition of random. If I were pulling numbers out of thin air, it would take quite a while to find something you might consider random.

For instance, I have a strong (probably unhealthy) disdain for even numbers. Everything must be in odd sets in my mind, so odd numbers are far more prevalent in my thinking. I rarely consider even numbers unless absolutely necessary. I'm more fond of the prime odd numbers than the rest, so it's natural to me that they'd be more common too.

Random? Maybe not to you, or most of anyone for that matter. But when you take 0123456789 and limit it to 1357, there isn't much left to shake in a box and make random strings of numbers with.

1353735313 just happened to be first in line, as it often is. It's catchy and sticks. It's what I immediately think of when I think "random numbers." Other stands would have looked similar.
3573537751
1355375331
3115375531
1335577351
1357535313

So, random to you, maybe not. But to me and my idiosyncrasies, it is :) you wanted to see what patterns there are, well there are mine, complete with an explanation as to why they formed the way they did ^^;

4875413654 (blindly typed on numpad)

3814026539 (actually thought them up)

Why?
