This is your read-rage thread. I'd kick off myself with an effusion of fury on Heinlein but it's too late for that stuff tonight.

So have at it. Make my day.

The Bible, Quran, Tanakh, Book of Mormons etc. and the writers behind them!

Have you actually read them cover to cover?

I hate The Catcher in the Rye. I don't like how it's written.

99% of Harlequin Romances should also be destroyed.

John Greene annoys me. I don't get the hype.
Who's John Greene? Elaborate. Explain what's the matter with him.

Me, I've decided to add Cormac McCarthy. Mostly because I was so sucked in on first reading of The Road and whatever came after it. But by the time I was halfway through the second one, I started getting more and more strongly invaded by the feeling 'this is an elaborate he-man Mary Sue fantasy, isn't it? he's trying to be Hemingway, he's wanking, and he just sucked me in.'

Anything done by Nicholas Spark and/or Mills and Boons. (but that might just be the romantic in me)

I agree 100% with hating 50 Shades Of Grandma Porn.

Also Steinbeck makes me wanna rip my eyeballs out.

Dean Koontz is dross, but I really like some of his subject matter. But don't go looking to him for "meaning." Sorry Dean.

Stephen King. Has a short train of thought for the main story which is able to fit in approximately 60 pages, but he decided to fill 600 pages with it and clog plot holes with nonsense and vast useless descriptions, sometimes losing himself in that mess.
Omg. I enjoyed the Mist, because it was short and condensed.

Then I thought to myself, "Well, the Dome seems like a pretty cool idea--I love movies that can pull off just one area, like The Exam, so let me give this a try."

-200 pages later-

WTF AM I DOING STILL READING THIS?!

Anyway, I couldn't get past the first few pages of Game of Thrones. I know everyone loves that book and series, but dear God, the boring meter is up there for me.

One of my IRL friends will hate me for this, but Daniel Defoe's (yes, *that* Daniel Defoe!) Journal of the Plague Years really sucked eggs. On the other hand, his Moll Flanders was...bawdy.

Authors: Dan Brown, James Patterson, Stephanie Meyers, E.L. James, Danielle Steel, Cassandra Clare.

Book: The Kite Runner (I don't freaking care that the main character was "just a kid" when a certain event happened. It was how he handled, or not handled, it.)

The majority of the authors/books on the NY Times best sellers list. Sort of the lowest common denominator list is what I like to call it.
