To me it sounds like you are contradicting yourself, I don't know if I'm right here. You want to be friends? Now is that your logical half speaking or are you genuinely saying that from the heart? Have you disconnected what you are feeling from what you know what is best and so you are acting contradictory? Have you even recognised the cause of this conflict in yourself?

I don't know how harshly you pushed this person away but that's not fair on anyone to be treated like that. You have to know if you can stop yourself from doing it again, if not then it's being selfish trying to rekindle this when you haven't sorted through your own issues yet. Only try if you know that you can be in it 100% and not am ambiguous hot and cold.
