Acne is pretty much 100% about having too much skin oil. Acne bacteria (P. acnes) live in skin oil and the more oil you have the more bacteria you will have. You can't actually treat acne by getting better hygeine routines, diet or anything like that.
The only treatment I know work is Accutane/Roaccutane (isotretinoin). It works by drastically reducing the oil in your skin with 80%. 95% who uses Accutane/Roaccutane will see a drastic, often total reduction of acne. 33% will experience a relapse.
This is by far the most effectie treatment. I doubt that ordinary derms, etc. work at all.
However it has potentially serious side effects and thus requires prescription.
