Think about the world. Think hard about what's happening to our surroundings, our leaders, our role models, our day-to-day consumption of our resources. What is it going to be like in 10 years from now and where would you want to be? You are an INFP and you have powerfull intuitive skills... be creative and share your thoughts on this matter.

Have you ever done a google-map search for "concentration camps"? I bet there is one near you that you don't know about...

Live simple... so others may simply live.

Worse unemployment than there is now. Hyper-inflation. More governmental control. I want to see a better future, but I honestly don't think things will get better =[
Where would I want to be? Well certainly not in a concentration camp, as you are suggesting there is likely to be one near me :)

Oh man, i don't think anyone wants that! One big irony is that the government is actually losing control. Huge corporations like BP are taking over government decision-making now.
...Im thinking that people are going to start moving up north. It'll get warmer and it's where most of the fresh water will be.

Okay, your ending seemed a little freaky and conspiratorial there. But anyway, what I'll be doing is rocking the worlds of social science, creative and nonfiction writing, activism, and philosophy. I won't pretend to know what the world will be like then. It won't matter; I'll still be doing mah thang.

Being a perpetual misanthrope, I submit that much like an addict, the world will not improve until it hits rock bottom. There has been so many documented cases of pain, suffering, and general lack of humanity that our species has been responsible for, and still humanity doesn't see the need to change its ways. Until there is a tragedy of such a epic proportion that it rips the heart out of the world nothing will really change. Mankind will continue on its journey of selfishness and desecration until that point. While I patiently await that day all I can do is kick back and try to laugh at the stupidity of it all.

We will hear of terrible things but we must not despair because it is not yet the end. I think eventually the world will have to go through the agony of labour again and build a new and better world where INFP's will have a much bigger role to play.

Thank you for this thread. I am really scared about over-consumption of the earth's resources. Sometimes I get a little paranoid and really, really angry thinking about how self-absorbed the majority of humans can be. How they don't think before they act. So....
I try to buy things that come in glass, not plastic.
I don't use any throw-away things like paper towel or napkins or sandwich bags.
I have decided to buy only vintage or 100% recycled clothing.
I have decided to furnish my entire house (when I get one) with vintage or recycled furniture.
I am going to start a compost and vegetable garden in my backyard soon.
I use my bike and public transportation as much as possible.

I want to leave this world consuming as little as possible. Recently I read this article about London's Heathrow airport and how they've decided not to add a 3rd runway because it's bad for the environment, and I applaud Britain for being a brave environmental steward on this issue. There are many short-sighted idiots who, instead of seeing the bigger picture of Britain's helping to keep our air clean, can only say that the country has made itself an "economic loser" with this decision, and that all the Asian countries are going to have the premier airports.

Wow. This is why I really have a hard time being positive in my life sometimes. I just don't understand why people want to trash the earth.

I agree wholeheartedly with this. There are just too many stupid people on earth right now. And by stupid I don't mean uneducated, because many of the people responsible for all the pain and suffering have Doctorate degrees. To tell you the truth, I really don't want to think about the world in ten years. The only thing we can do as a species is try and fix the out of control train that we have on our hands. Unfortunately, only a few will take the initiative. Others will be content to listen to Glenn Beck and continue to believe that global warming is a farce.

As for government control, so many now believe that we are on the brink of socialism(which in and of itself I don't see as a bad thing), when reality, government is now controlled by the corporations. It's more about the private sector than ever before. If we spent more money on the public sector, America would be a much better place today.

WWIII will kill the entire human race.. almost. INFP's will claim a small island, spreading word through the internet. All INFP's will gather there as the cross fire of nukes destroy the planet. Kinda like that movie (forgot the name )... it'll be a little village.. and INFP's will reproduce with other INFP's.. and the new era will begin :)

I really don't want to think about it, if we don't die in 2012 then we'll bring ourselves down. Have you seen how much the U.S.A. has? We'll go down soon enough, but I don't want to be alive when we do. I hope that in ten years more things are recycled and we have more recycling plants than garbage dumps. I have hope for the future, but question whether or not we actually want to be here when everything starts falling to pieces. It sounds selfish, but I just don't want to be here when there's a mass panic over money and eventually garbage asteroids.

Science will be advancing at a faster rate than I think is reasonable (paradoxical, considering I love science, but we have already "created" a species and found a "Goldilocks" planet only 20 light years away!)

Conservatives will run rampant

Population will continue to swell

Environmental Science would still be woefully neglected

PS: I'm a pessimist

Things will go downhill one by one. But as always after it gets to the bottom its starts to pick up and get better. This country (the US) wont get out of our economy crisis for a while. All our major national wide services are being reduced or cut. I fear for children since they need a decent education, but with schools budget cuts and college increases in tuition each year, its going to be a hell of a lot worse for even younger people than my age group (I'm 21 and its pretty bad for me).

The price of living has gone up, medical is still hard for a large population for Americans, job layoffs are still happening and a high unemployment rate, schools are effed and cut, [insert what other bad thing to happen], etc.

Hopefully in the future I will be able to graduate with my BA in something I love, find a decent career with a livable salary (a bit more wont hurt, lol) and to travel, find a life partner and settle down to have a family. It's funny, I wish I was born earlier so I wouldn't be at my age now during such hard times.

The future is right now and how we choose to influence it over and over again.
It's just an idea... the same as current ideas which we call "reality".
I think it can go either way, but the present is always of vital importance.

I thinks we will be fine ;)

Some people say humanity as a species (not necessarily the Planet itself though, & other creatures!) will be doomed because of our failure after failures (The Final Freedoms).
Some people say that the world will 'end', presumably in year 2012 (somehow,..I tragically and deeply waiting for this momentous year to quickly come,..seeing how humanity has gone now.
Yet, some said that THAT same year (2012) will actually be a GREAT Change in terms of Consciousness, Awareness, evolving into a higher state collectively. It gets even weirder once you go down the 'rabbit hole', as some said this is highly related with the "other" Higher Beings, be it ETs, or creatures from another dimension (god?...), etc.

I don't know,..we'll see..
but I just somehow deeply hope that something will really occur soon, or in year 2012,
and those of us who are *aware* of these kind of things, would get some kind of 'helps' somehow...
otherwise, frankly-speaking,..I'm not sure if I can keep living beyond the year 2013 if still with this SAME state of materialistic, capitalistic, greedy society we're currently in...'cuz it's fucking hard, all 'sweet-talks' aside.

I hope the world ends up positive and the way Michio Kaku describes it. Type 1 civilization sounds amazing, but to get there as humans now, we have to find peace and remain civil towards each other. No more war, suffering, poverty, etc.

I think the population is a huge problem. I really think we need to start there, because standards of living in developing nations and places like China and India are increasing and using more resources. There's an equalization occurring, which I think could bring about some positive changes, but for the immediate future the changes seem negative.

I think that our current challenges will probably unite a lot of people. The 60's had a lot of potential but they screwed it up with too much drug experimentation... and now we need something a bit more catastrophic to get people back up off their asses. When you and your family need help, you tend not to care about who and from what religion, race, socioeconomic background, etc. etc. that help comes from. We are going to have to work to overcome our animal nature in order for (what I like to call the) "humbling" to occur.

That said, what ever our future is as a species, it starts with you. The rest is out of your control, and therefore not worth dwelling on too heavily. Love, kindness, and compassion are manifested more easily by INFPs and require a unique kind of courage. Bring them in to your every day life. Start now. Be kind to everyone and everything you meet, regardless of their response. Love yourself as deeply as you love your family members. Use that Ne to recognize opportunities to be compassionate, and just do it. Instead of giving way to anger, realize that anyone who angers you just wants the same things you do... to keep living, to feel secure and happy, and anything they do is an expression of grasping for those desires.
