:D I trust your conclusion, but I'd like a little bit of explanation so that I can see it myself. (PM if you want to, or here is fine as well.)
I agree with @Monkey Fritz. It makes sense with the trying to find your type and identifying with a heap of things that others here have stated. I've thought it before actually. I also think that @Blue Ocean is one too....being under stress and constant evaluation through all that damn school work could be a possible reason for 6 type behaviour.

I was split on tests between 1, 5, 6 and 9 all the time, I thought I was a 5 because I identified with the description better, until @bethdeth pointed out a 9w1 description and it fit a while lot better than the standard 9 did.

If I was to guess I would have guessed you were 9w1 by intuition cause you just seem like one, lol. Descriptive for the win. *arm pump*

I just identify with your brainwave better than most so I would say you are a 9w1 too.

Yeah, same here. It was usually 5>6>1>9

Interesting. I did consider it for a while, but I remember reading things about type 9s that didn't agree with me whereas 6 seemed almost completely like me. I do seem to get on well with, and understand, 9s quite well around this subforum, but that could just be because 9s are easy to get on with in general.

I had a whole phase last year with this thread http://personalitycafe.com/whats-my-enneagram-type/68996-not-clue.html, and I did consider 9 but ended up ruling it out based on various sources.

I don't get a core-9ish feel from you, for what it's worth. 9s are more laid-back, and you're more anxious. Even the ones that start to get anxious have this... I dunno how to describe it. It's like an undercurrent of, "If things just went back to normal, then I could relax," I guess? But relax in the 9ish sloth way, not the relaxed-relief 6s feel.
Type Nine-Type Six

These types are actually frequent mistyped. Sixes and Nines are both concerned with security and with maintaining some kind of status quo situation. They are both family-oriented, and both tend to take modest views of themselves. Their affect, however, is the easiest way to distinguish them.

In short, Nines like to remain easy-going and unflappable. Nines work steadily at their tasks, but show little sign of being upset by the day's ups and downs. Sixes, on the other hand, cannot easily disguise their feelings. They get more easily worked-up and rattled by mishaps. While Nines can remain silent within their own inner peace, Sixes need to vent with others periodically to discharge their fears and doubts. Sixes are more obviously nervous and defensive when they believe there are problems. Nines remain strangely bland in the face of problems, although beneath the pleasant surface of average Nines, there is stubborn resistance and an unwillingness to be upset or troubled by conflicts or problems. Sixes tend to be suspicious of unknown people and situations–they need to test people before they let them get close. Nines may be protected by the disengagement of their attention, but they tend to be trusting of others–almost to a fault.

Of course, under stress, when moving in their Direction of Disintegration, Nines will begin to act out some of the behaviors of average Sixes, and for this reason, some Nines will mistype themselves as Sixes. But such periods of overt anxiety generally do not last long. As soon as possible, Nines revert to their more easy going approach to things. Compare Sixes George Bush and Dustin Hoffman with Nines Gerald Ford and Jimmy Stewart.
Maybe I should re-evaluate, but I'm fairly satisfied that I'm a 6-1-4 and can't be bothered at this point in time :p

Today it's Mexico. Did you pass by a ruined car? I think I'm near an airport.
It's a different country every time you refresh the site. I haven't even been in the Americas yet.

Guys, guys.

Google that.

It's pretty much the most exciting thing ever. It's just like what is this.

I don't remember my dreams that vividly very often, but I had one last night which had @<span class="highlight"><i><a href="http://personalitycafe.com/member.php?u=14888" target="_blank">PurpleTree</a></i></span> in it. I've already forgotten quite a bit of it, but she basically came to visit me for a day. It was rather fun. She was wearing kinda guyish clothes (probably due to the gender neutral thing on the forum) and flat shoes but was taller than me. I don't know how tall you are but I guess subconsciously, I must think you're an actual tree. We kinda did all the stuff I'd normally do - went out for lunch and played computer games and stuff, but it was nice to actually be able to talk about geeky things and be honest without having to worry about butt hurt or anything like that.

When it hit evening, you had to go home, and you had a choice between 2 cars. You picked the 'bad' one and I reacted like some sort of gameshow host would when a contestant makes a bad choice. It didn't start, so you had to push it all the way home.
Well, I am guyish, tree-sized (5'9" or 175cm), and terrible with cars, so your dream seems bizarrely accurate. With the exception of the fact that if I ever made it to England, I would probably spend hours being tourist-photographer-crazy and wouldn't leave without smuggling handfuls of poppies to Joseph Merrick's skeleton.

If you saw me, I was being sloppy. That was just me stalking the wife as I couldn't afford a PI. She had spent all my money on you.
I just mentally pictured @tooboku reenacting the "Magnum, p.i." opening (which I didn't even realize I remembered) with a porn 'stache. I should really get more sleep.

I don't think I like that description very well.
There is a big difference between 9w1's and 9w8's, for one thing.

As I just said, there is a big difference once you add the wings. 9 descriptions don't fit me very well at all, thus I never really considered it as a possibility. Then @bethdeth linked me a site which explained the difference between a 9w1 and a 9w8, and 9w1 really fit me. Maybe she still remembers what site that was?

Accents! So that's what they're supposed to be! Maybe it's a Mac thing?

Okay, so you're not as tall as me then, but maybe I consider you to be 'psychologically' taller because I regard you as being more confident than me, and there's a link between the height people are perceived to be and their perceived level of 'authority'.

So you wouldn't visit me if you were in England? :(

Damn you. I was surrounded by French, but in a US-type environment so I guessed I was in Canada, which was confirmed by a flag I passed a little later. Canada is one big, empty country though :(

I kept going down a darn road for ages, and after about an hour, I decided I had to cheat and use Google Maps to figure out where the nearest airport was to stop me going for the entire day. I was going towards a town called Saint Georges, which had some sort of aerodrome so I aimed to get there. After another hour, I was so close and it turned out Google hadn't mapped the last few roads that got me to the airport. I was so pissed. I threw my toys all over the floor.

It was just as well I had music playing in the background to stop me from going completely crazy

You'd never get that problem over here - you're never more than a couple of miles away from civilisation.

Interesting about forum-related dreams - I had a @Faklubrejle Street in my dream last night, and yesterday morning another PerC member said he'd had a dream where I dressed him up as a woman and took him to a party. I like the life I lead in other people's dreams.

I heard something on the news a couple years back about some country putting QR codes on their street signs. They talked about tourists messaging it to cab companies so they didn't have to translate street names (I think this was in a country that used logograms so you couldn't just spell out whatever was on the sign over the phone). It stuck out to me because it was something that was quite useful, where plenty of QR code applications seem a bit silly.

Dang, and nobody is dreaming of me...
Guess I'm no dream/fantasy material then.

I will go back to my cave.
If I had a dream about a bear who just looked at me and then went back to sleep, does that count?

I seem to remember something like that a couple weeks ago. (I have terrible dream memory, so it's very hard to remember such things. Who knows what kind of craziness I miss out on.)

So, today I started reading a new book I bought on Enneagram (I bought it a while ago actually but never got around to reading it) at work. The book helped me to realize I'm definitely a 9w1, but even more significantly, explains far more about me as a person down to the deepest core than MBTI has so far. In fact, it frames all my confusion about my MBTI type perfectly - just as @bethdeth predicted from my start here on PerC - which is really pretty astonishing. She knew I was a 9w1 all along. Damn, I even got my wing wrong - I thought I was a w8 at first, but I was still projecting. When I finally read this book today, I really identified with the 9w1 description, almost every word of it. If anyone wants, send me a PM and I'll type up the whole chapter on 9's for you.

I have to share the positive side of this realization, because it means a lot to me. I've always known that my basic needs and fears all stem from wanting to be seen as a 'good' person by others, and that this is really what threatens my inner peace the most. And that is precisely what the book describes about 9w1s. Now, being an INTJ means I have a unique and special gift - a very rare perspective combined with the 9w1 enneatype. I have the advantage of being able to take an objective (Te) 'make it make sense' approach to figuring out what is 'good' (Fi) and imagining a strategy (Ni) for achieving that goal. When I reach the top three healthy levels of type 9 (which I believe I am already in) I will have a stronger sense of knowing what that good is and how to achieve it, and the motivation to actualize that vision through 3'ish assertiveness.

The trap is fear of rejection and the anxiety that comes from it. As long as I don't take it personally when others disagree, and instead focus on trying to resolve any issues peacefully and responsibly, everything should work out for me in life. And honestly, I can say that makes a lot of sense to me personally, because that is really the biggest thing holding me back in my life at this point. I already tend to focus on the positive side of things and being encouraging to others is my primary way of interacting - to the extent that I thought I might actually rely more on Fe than Te for my extroverted judgment. I resolved this confusion by recognizing that when I try to solve a problem in life that involves the feelings of other people I use the 'golden rule' - do unto others as you would have them do unto you. That is more or less the definition of subjective ethical judgement, and Fi is subjective, ethical, and judgmental. Furthermore, I am choosing it out of a sense of practicality, because I identify with it conceptually as the most logical choice.
From what you wrote, I would have to conclude that I am also a 9w1.

Also, if your offer to PM the chapter on 9s is still open, I'd be very interested.

@Sela

We have a boxer, who usually barks and dances a very loud jig when a stranger is at the door. But either she was in the back yard at the time or I didn't hear her as I was downstairs.

At any rate, I'd prefer strangers just stay the fuck out of my home. XP
Really? That sounds reasonable... Maybe posting a sign that says "robbery and other unauthorized entry is strictly prohibited" would also help?

That would be interesting, though I must admit thinking about enneagram the first time gave me such a headache that I don't want to get sucked into the ambiguity again. If that site is good though, I wouldn't mind a read.

You've just ruined one of my surprises :(

I hereby authorize you to leave the house... ; )
So you're offering to remove my cod piece?

414. That’s an error.
The requested URL /search... is too large to process. That’s all we know.
Hmmm... someone else got that, too. I wonder why... works just fine for me! :(

It doesn't really do anything amazing, though - those little characters just pop up all over the page and it looks insane.

I just did a type-me thread in the Enneagram section. Apparently I'm sort of mostly a 6. But then I started looking at wings, and phobic/counterphobic, and sexual/social/security types, and my head started to hurt. I can see that it could be useful for some, but there are far more variants and permutations than I can make any sense of.
