I wonder if anyone noticed.
The attire of the person with AS may set them apart because they wear what is comfortable, rather than what is fashionable. (Tactile sensitivity plus anxiety in new situations means getting electrodes on the first time can be very difficult.) The teenager who wears sweat-pants to school when everyone else wears jeans likely has AS. This lack of sartorial acumen is due to a combination of sensory sensitivity and not reading fashion cues.

I'm getting impatient now.

No progress has been made on my plans to start the drifter life. My landlord is being really wishy-washy about whether they want to keep all my furniture (so they can market the house as furnished rather than unfurnished) and seem to think that the ultra-low nominal price of £150 I suggested for all my furniture should be passed onto the next tenant, rather than seeing it as a cheap investment that they can and should pay themselves. It looks like I'm instead going to have to take the annoying option and have a mad rush of selling/removing all the furniture in the coming few days.

As well as this, what looked like a basic electrical repair for my car has now turned into something far worse. The electrics on one of the rear doors are dead, which to me seems like a basic case of reconnecting a broken wire. But no. Apparently the control unit for the electrics of that door is inside the door, which is not working, and is locked, so the likely solution is going to be to smash the lock. And that's just to even look at the thing to see what's wrong. So I've had to source a new lock mechanism. The mechanic also said that the issue could be due to the control unit itself, so I should source a new control unit just in case that's the issue. Then they'll need to put in a few hours of work taking the entire fucking door apart, at their rate of £50/hr. All for something which should be as simple as "oh this wire here needs to be fixed". Whoever the fuck designed the in-door electrics on VW Golfs can go and jump in the fucking sea. Anyway all of this means that I can't do anything until the car is repaired. I mean, I could just not do the repair, but it needs to be in full working condition so I can sell it. So I need to do it.

I really hoped to do a quick solo trip up to Scotland for a few days, to 'practise' the drifter life I had envisaged. I would then come back home, sell all things, move out, and begin the real drifter life. But no, I am instead grounded and will be for the next week at least. It's looking more and more likely that I'll be stuck here until almost the very end of my tenancy (5th June) getting all this shit done. Very annoying.

I would prefer it if they still made cars with as few electronics as possible. I'm currently driving a car from 1996 and while stuff breaks more often than with a new car, it's a lot cheaper to fix compared to modern cars.

I happened to read an article recently about how car prices have basically doubled, in a large part because of all the extra features built into cars, a lot of which are completely unnecessary but which you do pay for, both when you buy the car and when it has to be maintained.

You're Dutch, right?

My Dutch mate was amazed by how cheap cars are in the UK. You can buy a good second-hand car here for about £1000, or much cheaper if you're lucky. When I sell my car, I'll be lucky if I get £800 for it. I don't know how expensive cars are for you guys, but he was amazed by that.

Anyway yeah I totally agree that cars should be simple. The electronic trickery and onboard computers are just not necessary to me. My car is a 2006 model so it's not super modern, but it still has onboard computer, sensors etc which need to be handled by a specialist.

I have very little knowledge about cars, so I can't speak from experience, but I did understand that the main problem in the Netherlands is the tax on emissions, which can add several thousands to the price of a car, even if it's imported.

Update on impatience woes: The required car parts were delivered much faster than expected, but the auto electrician doesn't have an available time until next Tuesday. That's the 1st of June. So yes, it does look like I'll be stuck here until almost the very end of my tenancy date. On the plus side, it isn't going to cost me anything extra, given that I've already paid all my rent for this period. The more sensible part of my brain should see it as a no-brainer that I stay until the very end of the contract. But that is not fun!

I wonder if many people usually bear up with me because I'm attractive to their eyes. Do they actually care about what I have to say? Do they think I'm worth it because of who I am or despite of who I am? What if I was uglier? Would they leave? - But why do I care? Would it change anything if that was not the case? sigh Human life is not for me.

Now that I'm old, and looking back on my life, I think most people (especially men) had no clue who I was and didn't want to hear what I had to say.

That said, some people (including some men) do understand and appreciate me (even tho I'm no longer cute).

A few weeks ago I wrote about being fucked over by a guy who was supposed to be paying me for some freelance software work.

Today the battle was won. The software has been rewritten, re-released for free, and approved by the big website who we needed to get approval from.

I've been working pretty hard recently at the day job. Have a lot on my plate, pulled way too many directions. Still under the gun today to complete some tasks before the memorial day weekend. Then, have people wanting discuss minute details of something we have to do in December. Six months away! Really?!?

Burned out, sick at my stomach before every work day for months, and that just does not help!

"The secret of creating peace is that when you listen to another person you have only one purpose: to offer him an opportunity to empty his heart.

If you are able to keep that awareness and compassion alive in you, then you can sit for one hour and listen even if the other person’s speech contains a lot of wrong perceptions, condemnations and bitterness. You can continue to listen because you are already protected by the nectar of compassion in your own heart.

If you do not practice mindful breathing in order to keep that compassion alive, however, you can lose your own peace. Irritation and anger will come up, and the other person will notice and will not be able to continue. Keeping your awareness keeps you safe." - Thich Nhat Hanh
This is a hard role. Might require a lot of mindfulness of breathing to get there.

So it seems that often when I am thinking, all of my senses are blocked. 2-3 minutes could pass and I wouldn’t even remember what sounds I was hearing from the TV screen let alone what happened in the video.

Is that a common occurrence for others? I suspect it may be completely normal, but it is happening so frequently that I feel like this entire day when by too quickly.

Happens to me too. Not every single time, but for sure I zone out at times. I think it's a normal thing. It's funny witnessing other people do it. That totally vacant look in their eyes

I used to do that, but it's been a while since I've been lost in thought to such a degree.

I did have a problem when I was a child that when I was reading, I couldn't process anything else. So if my mother would tell me she would be going to the store for a bit and then 5 minutes later someone would ask me where she is, I would have no idea. I could only remember it if she made me look at her and repeat it back at her and even then it didn't always work.

I look at these INTP threads and most users are men - obviously. I low-key like it. Take care in life, don't screw up too badly. xox

Shit, never realised. A while ago it was definitely a good mix. Like 5 years ago. This forum is a little quieter this days.

Really? I wonder why they left... It's okay though, I'm used to it. It is a boomer that the forum is so quiet, I would like to read more of INTPs - who usually won't shut up (yes, hi) on the internet.

Obliviousness and horrible sitting positions combined make recovering from exercise so horrible, I can`t even drive properly because my feet keep cramping up.

I usually had the problem where I was reading, but my mind would wander away from the words and I would have to read the page 3 more times. That’s more very long stuff like books though.

I'm woefully bored again. Feels like I'm on this weird knife-edge between freedom and boredom. It's been two weeks since I finished my job and was all excited about heading out on my new adventure, but I've been waiting so long to get shit sorted that I am now back to boredom.

Today my car is finally getting its repair work done. This means I'm in the next town on, currently sitting in a pub for breakfast, wasting time on my laptop, and will probably be here well past lunch too. And I am bored. And I've only been here 10 minutes!

Normally I would love something like this. A full day of sitting in a public cafe environment (okay this is a pub but it's the same idea) with a genuine reason allowing me to just stay there all day and dick around on my laptop. Bliss! But since I've spent the past year just sitting and staring at my computer, I don't feel excited about today at all. Boorrrrred.

Ah well. Could be worse. At least it's summer, and at least I am indeed quite free of most commitments right now. Oh and the coffee machine allows free refills!.

RAGE-EDIT: THE COFFEE MACHINE HAS RUN OUT OF HOT CHOCOLATE SO I WAS FORCED TO CHOOSE A COFFE SOMETHING-OR-OTHER AND I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT COFFEE OTHER THAN MOCHA.
