I figured that since the 4s and 6s have a thread like this, why not start one for the E1's? There probably aren't many songs that could be classified as "Type 1" or "1-ish", so I thought I'd see what others here think are good songs that represent our type.

Here's my first contribution. Amazing old-school hip-hop song that is basically a commentary about serious social problems, and mentions the consequences of these problems:

This song is about as old as me, lol, but I love the 80s.

I posted a thread like this not too long ago, but I think we should have one. Heres an old post:
Share music that you identify with, be it healthy E1 music or unhealthy. Tell us why you identify with it, be it the lyrics or other aspects of the music.

Bayside's Duality is of my favorite songs all-time because it fits the type 1 perfectly. The lyrics seem to be about balancing and coming to peace with the super ego. The songs lyrics speak to a more 6-ish 1 it seems. The song carries an intensity and some low level of anger, which 1's should be able to identify with, as frustration is no stranger.

About the super ego: "I can't get you out of my head", "You're the flame that burns me, so I know that I'm still alive", "No telling what tomorrow holds. No telling what voice takes control."

About a loss of happiness: "Who let, who let these feelings die, when all I did was try? I can't get you out of my head."

Regards a lack of control and tendency towards caution: "Woaahh, if I say is really wrong?" "I'm not in control, I think I'm out of control!"

Anger proned emotions: "Some days I get crazed, I don't know why it's so irrelevant I'll take deep breaths and keep control, go on.", "I'm proud to keep it bottled up. I think I've past my prime, and lost my mind, and I'm torn."

Here's a song that was my wake-up call, among other things:

This video was created by a group of music production students in the UK. It seems to capture a possible Type 1 who is trying to resist temptation, and by the end of the video, falls into it.

The female brunette reminds me of myself. The evil demon guy, as I see it, represents temptation. The blonde at the end of the video is what I feel my soul must be like, if I have a soul.

Lyrically, this song reminds me of myself as well. I try to be positive about something, but then criticize myself for something that I see as a "flaw" or "mistake".

This is something for a more 3-ish One or a 1-ish Three, but I think it works. It's called "Fear and Loathing", and I know that when the word "fear" is used, people think Six, but I don't think this is a very Six-ish song.

Additionally by Marina is "I Am Not a Robot". It's a great song and it really pinpoints when you feel like you can never have a weak spot, can never mess up.

And I just thought of this one - it's about questioning the past, thinking about what you need to do to improving things and saying that you must make things right instead of zoning out. It "ain't no time to go to sleep."

"Stars" from Les Miserables. Absolutely gorgeous, and a more One-ish song and character could never exist. (Yes that's a challenge to One-up me.)

Rough translation of the lyrics:

Boom boom, madness, shot on the house facade
The kids are running full, the step on the pedal
It goes vroom vroom, madness, yet buried
The slum is sick, it infects me and makes me mad
Ey yo awake, alert, riots in the city
The people boiling over, a fire in parliament
And lot of weapons spins around among kids
And drugs and violence have become part of everyday life

Hey, I can not sleep any more
Everything goes up for me when the sun goes down
Can't dream myself away
I see the problems under my eyelids

I can not sleep any more
Everything goes up for me when the sun goes down
Can't dream myself away

I can not stop shouting
Closes his eyes and looks like black clouds pile up
Wonder why the road should be filled out pits
We grow up with the feeling of having lost
Do you see where it's rooted

And I answer: yes Sho
Does what you see, yo I see hatred thrives
Drugs in the area, seeing my brother over the box
Seeing as how they are planning, calculating every move yes
Transforms us into villains

Man are they wise
Plundering them young and running away from the bill
Where will they go now that the farm is scrapped
You sit beaten and threatened
In handcuffs

Ey yo brother I
Look how small problems become big
Mum's tears running down her cheek when she cries
Once buried, who died where he was residing
Want blind and not see but you can not snooze, no,

I can not sleep something more
Everything goes up for me when the sun goes down
Can't dream myself away
I see the problems under my eyelids

I can not sleep any more
Everything goes up for me when the sun goes down
Can't dream myself away
No, no, no

When the sun goes down begins vultures circulating
The pigs Scouts and the wolves are several
Hot blood turns cold when the drugs pollute
Weapons are multiple and the violence escalates

Everywhere you see people who runaway
From center to city branches
The soul has been removed priority
But there is nothing the media reflects

Some have faded into the root, hard out here to flourish
When they put up the tactics how they'll play
If we are just pawns, nothing more
At the bottom of the pyramid where life is not valued

And stress weighing on me like a ton of rocks
I go and waiting to detonate
There must be other ways of living
In my dreams I see a people united

I can not sleep something more
Everything goes up for me when the sun goes down
Can't dream myself away
I see the problems under my eyelids

I can not sleep something more
Everything goes up for me when the sun goes down
Could not dream me away
(Can't dream myself away)
(Can't dream myself away)
(Can't dream myself away)
(Can't dream myself away)

From the perspective of a One's lover, I think:

Every little beat of your heart, you get a little closer to me
You’ve never been so happy since I’ve been around
I don’t want to tear your world apart
But that’s how it’s going to be
Your head’s in the sky but I’m underground

Words come slow to me
Silence easily
But the world spins ’round and ’round
My heart is breaking

The mess I’m making

Every little beat of your heart
You’re painting a picture of me
You put me on a pedestal I can’t climb down
Every little beat of my own takes me further from you
I’ve run out of heaven and I’m closing down

There’s an actor in this town
And he follows you around
He gets his lines right every time
But his heart is breaking
He’s tired of faking

Every little beat of your heart
You’re painting a picture of me
You put me on a pedestal I can’t climb down
Every little beat of my own takes me further from you
I’ve run out of heaven and I’m closing down
