I was curious about this as me and my sister are quite different types and have different views.
I'm ISFP and interested in nutrition/how things affect my body and in what ways (if I was so darn delicate I'd probably experiment on my body to see what helped and hindered it!)
My sister is INFJ and isn't interested. She says it's boring, but she is intereste din the human body generally ( especially the brain)

Do you think this is down to functions/types?
She's an Ni user and I use Se as my second function.

When I was in my 20s, I really didn't care. I would say in my mid-30s I started to care.. I wouldn't even say it was age-related, but rather just a new interest. I started going to the gym and nutrition followed. Actually, I started to work out on home stuff in my early 30s and "diet" in the losing weight kind. About a year ago I became vegan for animal reasons and just recently started reading about the health benefits, too. I ALWAYS have health in mind when I grocery shop. My sister, an XSFP has been into the diet and exercise thing for a large part of her life. For her, it's largely for looks/physical appearance.

It would depend on why you're interested if you want to find any function correlation - is it the physical side of it that interests you? Generally, I don't see much of any type correlation here. Type doesn't dictate interests. For instance, I find nutrition interesting, and I'm an INTJ. My ISFJ mom is huge about it also, and much more interested than I am. There are probably waay too many reasons anyone could get interested in nutrition (raised that way, like the science, etc.) - most are probably not type related - definitely not in origin anyhow. For instance, my ISFJ mom got interested in it and taking care of herself after her mom died - why on Earth would this be type related?

Eh, really cool subject (my mom is a nurse and all into nutrition!) but I don't think this has much to do with type correlation. :)

I'd have to agree with the general consensus here. I'm not sure it's really type-related. Personally, I'm more into health than anyone else in my family (a couple ESFJ's, and INFJ, ISFJ, and a few too young to tell yet) but this is more due to what I'm studying than real concern about my health.
I don't eat right because I am worried about self-care but I will feed the kids well because I care about them...
Your INFJ sister's interest in the brain is intriguing... I too am more interested in anatomy and general physiology than biochemistry... But that may be mere happenstance that we are the same in that regard.

Thanks very much for the replies!!

Yeah I think it's true it'd be about motivation of interest!

I'm into it because of....I guess health and spiritual reasons (treat your body like a temple, gets the best from body and mind etc). I do like the science side alot too though (I studied biology and loved the brain and muscles).

I'm concerned about nutrition but it's more from the side of wanting to build muscle and become well toned. A sudden appearance from a sign of poor health reared it's ugly head and scared me into taking better care of my body (especially heart) so now it's a bit of a matter of wanting to make sure that episode never occurs again.

I don't put much thought into it, but I try to be at least somewhat healthy. I'n not sure how it would relate to type.

I don't often think about it, usually I just eat whatever I feel like eating at the time. I try and be somewhat aware though... especially as I have a ridiculous sweet tooth.

Thanks for all the replies!!
@Kitzara - yeah I have a sweet tooth too Dx It's a pain (not literally....got no fillings), but I'm working on subtle sweet things (fruit based etc).
