I'm not necessarily pro-marijuana, but if you want to light one up that's your choice. You're absolutely free to do so.

You mean consuming weed itself or legalising the growing of sale and consumption of weed? Both are related, but not the same thing.

Plus, something like this has more to do with upbringing and culture than personality type, I'd guess.

I'm not pro marijuana. Some of the creative types would disagree with me, but I see this as a possible addiction that doesn't seem to bring any tangible benefits (if you don't consider getting high).

I've tried it a few times. It's not for me, but I am pro legalization.

lol, this is the reason I don't smoke weed, got to stay on task and get the job done!
But the political side of me says, hey, as long as they're not hurting anyone let them smoke their brains out (just don't drive while high!)

This is pretty much my stance on it as well.

I am not a big fan of engaging in anything that is mind altering or potentially addictive. I like to be in complete control of my actions. I don't want to find out later that I did something really embarrassing.

I live in a country where medical is legal and full decriminalization is seemingly the majority will: of course that can be broken down regionally. I support both initiatives because there have been many studies that show the medical benefits of it and that the huge majority of crimes concerning cannabis involve simple possession or trafficking and personally I see no value causing a backlog in the court system or overcrowding in our jails over something that in my opinion does less damage than prescribing narcotics while claiming that medical supervision is a manner of abating the inevitable addiction that follows; or alcohol, a legal, and government taxed drug that leads to many physical/ social issues, the dissolution of individual family unit due to the addictive patterns of abuse that ensues, direct crime relation ie assaults etc (i have never heard of a person smoking cannabis and them picking a fight: eating some strange shit while watching Fritz the cat, I have seen).

What about medical applications? There are some varieties that contain very low THC levels which means the active compound that provides the high is not present. However, not all are CBD varieties and some do contain THC and are still "medical": the varieties are most used for things like depression, migraines and arthritis because of particular noted effects.

Exactly ! I'm all for its use for people with medical conditions but me personally I would never use it in a recreational fashion. I remember someone talking about weed and saying something to the effect of, weed makes you happy and content with doing nothing. That's totally against my values and philosophy I'm all about continuous growth settling for mediocrity and complacency is death :bored:.

I'm not saying all people who use it in a recreational way lack ambition or anything. I'm just saying that personally it would make the process of me achieving my goals harder and it's for that reason I wouldn't use it. It's the same reason I don't drink and I don't smoke, I have certain health goals and while I could use those in moderation, the activities bring no value I see no point introducing them into my life.

personally I will never use any type of drugs recreationally. I just do not see the point of it. also I like to be in control of my actions and be responsible for myself and others. Cant take mind altering drugs and be responsible at the same time.. xD

You have a point. There definitely are medical applications. I have no issues with that, so long as there are sufficient checks and balances to prevent misuse.

Lots of things can be abused, too. You can get high from codeine in cough syrup, and some doctor in my country got busted for selling a large amount of cough syrup to addicts.

Marijuana has some amazing medical side effects and is great for people who can use those benefits. I don't care if people use it recreationally either, as long as they aren't behaving in any way that is adverse to other (same can be said for smoking or alcohol though).

I am disinterested in trying it for myself.

I am absolutely anti-marijuana. I've worked with people that use it and I've been to countries that have low standards (legal and social) when it comes to drug use. I don't want to be around any of it. In fact, I hope they all move away and go to Colorado or what-have-you.

Everything has consequences... the only difference is whether they're short-term or long-term.

I am anti-marijuana. As @Out0fAmmo said, I don't want to be around it. I don't like the unpredictability or change in people's behavior. I also think the recent studies about it's long-term effects on the brain's motivation centers are something we intuitively knew all along. It's just not good for the productivity of our nation/communities to be high all the time.

Both of my parents are weed users but I hate weed. I think that their habits caused a lot of harm to the family and to their careers.
That being said, I think weed and other soft drugs should be legalized but not promoted in any way.

As the poster above have mentioned, I'm also anti-smoking marijuana and in general as well. I also am against legalizing marijuana, and I think things are better off just the way they are right now, what's the urgency to legalize something to get high off? Does it benefit us? If yes, then how? Instead of devoting our attention and resources towards something useless and time consuming, why not think of ways to address the domestic issues here in the U.S? Preserving peace, law and order, so shitbags like in Ferguson and in other places in the nation don't go out looting, rioting and killing police officers. But, no, let's just instead get high and go crazy.

^ This. I don't condone marijuana usage, but if the government were to sell it and tax the hell out of it, MAYBE they could get their act together and get us out of the debt trap that our country has fallen into (wishful thinking... I know).

Myself, personally? No thanks. I'm at my best when I'm sharp and in the ISTJ "zone".
