Hi all, I have done the human metrics 16 personality test several times and I usually always get a different result, I have manage to test at least once for all the INXX types but the types I come out most often as are INTJ or INFJ (INFJ the most). Please help be decide which one I am. I am a 5w6 on the enegram.
1) What aspect of your personality made you unsure of your type?
Whether I am a thinker or a feeler. Most of the people I know can not make their mind up as to whether I am a thinker or a feeler. My Parents and a friend of mine think I am an INTJ due to me being a book worm when i was a kid and I love to research things like Animals and Technology along with more human esc things like politics and mbti.

2) What do you yearn for in life? Why?
Warmth and compassion as they are what makes me happy. A stable family due to my parents being split up and relatives always fighting over things like money and who's in charge of looking after my Grandad.

3) Think about a time where you felt like you were at your finest. Tell us what made you feel that way.
Christmas as that was when everyone got together and exchanged gifts and got along.

4) What makes you feel inferior?
Situations that require small talk or just a casual chat as I am usually not very interested or find it rather awkward. Talking on the phone. Any physical activities. Anything to do with romantic relationships

5) What tends to weigh on your decisions? (Do you think about people, pro-cons, how you feel about it, etc.)
Morals and how I conduct myself. If these two do not come in to the situation it will usually be about the pros and cons of a situation.
6) When working on a project what is normally your emphasis? Do you like to have control of the outcome?
I like to determine the outcome and work towards it. Getting it done on time.
7) Describe us a time where you had a lot of fun. How is your memory of it?
I had lots of fun swimming at a beach and Jumping off this wooden float into the water with a friend of mine. It was really warm and sunny. Memory is very patchy and i see it in flashes
8) When you want to learn something new, what feels more natural for you? (Are you more prone to be hands on, to theorize, to memorize, etc)
When I want to learn something new I first read lots of books and articles about the subject and see what I am learning about through watching videos. I like to also theorize what I am learning about.

9) How organized do you to think of yourself as?
I think I am pretty organized but I am lazy. My room is very clean and I have everything organized so I know where it is. I can be forgetful though of things I may have to do.

10) How do you judge new ideas? You try to understand the principles behind it to see if they make sense or do you look for information that supports it?
I usually try understand its principals and see how it affects the world and people etc. It needs to be grounded in order for it to make sense for me. If it passes through this filter then I look for information to support it.

11) You find harmony by making sure everyone is doing fine and belonging to a given group or by making sure that you follow what you believe and being yourself?
I find harmony my making sure everyone is ok and getting along and that they are not hurting each other or being deceitful.
12) Are you the kind that thinks before speaking or do you speak before thinking? Do you prefer one-on-one communication or group discussions?
I prefer small group conversations as I then have time to think about my answer while other people talk, but only small groups. I prefer one on one however if it is something I like talking about and know lots about.
13) Do you jump into action right away or do you like to know where are you jumping before leaping? Does action speaks more than words?

I like to know what I am getting into before I do anything. Yes actions can speak louder than words as actions are basically proof that someone will do something, talk can be just talk and never come to fruition.
14) It's Saturday. You're at home, and your favorite show is about to start. Your friends call you for a night out. What will you do?

Try find an excuse for why I can't go, as I don't like going out that much unless its to go see a movie.
15) How do you act when you're stressed out?
I Get short tempered and incredibly frustrated.

16) What makes you dislike the personalities of some people?
If they seem to lack any kind of care for people, animals or the environment. If they gossip about other people or spread rumors. People that party a lot. People that judge others on aspects of their personality that do not affect anyone negatively at al e.g if someone had a lot of quirks or was a bit annoying, they are not hurting anyone but if someone negatively judges some one for traits like these I will almost immediately not like them.

17) Is there anything you really like talking about with other people?
I love talking about technology, animals, politics, ANIME and mbti.

18) What kind of things do pay the least attention to in your life
Probably romantic relation ships, I just don't see much of a point to them at my age (16 almost 17).

19) How do your friends perceive you? What is wrong about their perception? ? What would your friends never say about your personality ?
They don't often say much about me. They sometimes say very contrasting things. Like they say i'm nice but i can also be rather cold blooded with my decisions as I can be judgmental and I use to value justice more than mercy (a lot more) But it is the other way around now . moral. trust worthy. polite, blunt, Idealistic in a sense (Politically anyway as i tend to be very socialistic). Tend to put other people above myself. A geek when it comes to tech and animals. I would say most of their perceptions are usually right as I can be very rational and also very idealistic. I can also be cold blooded but also very warm.
20) You got a whole day to do whatever you like. What kind of activities do you feel like doing?
Watching anime, playing on my computer, going swimming if i get bored doing the later. Chatting on skype to a close friend and playing a video game.
Thanks in advance for the help

Well, you speak at length about how you tend to put a heavier emphasis on morals, interpersonal harmony, and humanitarian pursuits in contrast to critical thinking and objective analysis. I'd say you are an INFJ.
That may be the case but that has only been recently. My parents and a close friend that has known me from when i was young say I sound more like an intj. They also said that emotionally sometimes I am not very accommodating and I tend to disturb the peace if some one has or is doing something that I see as wrong. I usually refrain from causing conflict because I never see how it could benefit anyone and people become irrational or violent and it escalates so i see no point to it . I also do not use any slang and when I talk i do not condense anything, usually its all very raw. And the whole humanitarian side is new. Do INFJ's collect information on the latest technology and facts on animals etc as most smart phones I can list off the specifications of them no problem, behavior like this came about before the humanitarian side.

It may be possible that you are borderline on Thinking and Feeling. Unless I am wrong when the test results tell you prefer something over the other...?

Yeah that could be the case. I usually come up as borderline between the two. I'm not sure how that works though, wouldn't it mess up the cognitive functions? I remember I was always blunt and straight to the point when I was younger much to most peoples disdain. Going on the premise that we may be born with a set personality, if an intj was molly coddled and spent a lot of time around enfps would it be fair to say they would act like and infj but still an intj e.g they may have well developed Fi etc.

We all use the cognitive functions, it just so happens that an individual prefers using four cognitive functions out of the rest. These four dictate the personality type. INTJ and INFJ are only representatives of how you think, not what you value or how you act. And as for the popular belief of having a predetermined type at birth, yes, it has a slight thread of truth in it. Genetics, early environment conditions, and parental influences are definitely factors, but I am also not a firm believer in the notion that one's personality type cannot change just because those factors "say so". The brain is a complex subject, and it is not as rigid as we all lead ourselves to think.

The brain is prone to adapting and changing, if the said person wills it. Although basic preferences may or may not change, not one person is wholly stationary when it comes to self-discovery and learning. We grow, we make mistakes, and we learn.

So, if you are fairly certain you relate with the cognitive functions of another type more than the other, then that may indeed be your type.

Thanks. I have been researching the cognitive functions for a bit and I was wondering what are simple differences between Ti and Te and Fi and Fe. As I keep finding conflicting information.

Ti, like Fi, is an introverted function. Unlike Te, which relies on empirical logic, Ti is subjective and is not that heavily influenced by outside sources as much as Te is. Like Fi, Ti interprets a definition, context, or idea on subjective terms. Like Fe, Te relies on external sources for the validation of its observations and deductions. Fe, is also an extraverted function. At its most basic form, it functions almost similarly to Te. However, unlike Te, it puts a much heavier emphasis on harmony and relationships, than it does impersonal analysis and empirical logic.

I'm a person that makes decisions on empirical logic usually and sometimes can be rather impersonal. As I said I do not always seek harmony I just only care about doing what I see as right, if I see some one who is new or quiet I will usually talk to them and be nice to them. I will argue with people though and cause some trouble if some one has annoyed me which i'm guessing is not very Fe like? I have been accused of being to blunt and not exactly caring of how other people feel and always trying to analyse situations, is this intj behaviour? or is it infj or something else completely.

Can you please explain how the red doesn't contradict the green?
