I don't know about anyone else, but I've always loved finding quotes that I can relate to and the ones that apply to my life. I thought it'd be interesting for us to share them and see if any of them have similar themes in them. :D Here are just a few of mine.

"When you will not fly into a passion, people know that you are stronger than they are, because you are strong enough to hold in your rage, and they are not, and they say stupid things they wish they hadn't said afterward. There's nothing so strong as rage, except what makes you hold it in--that's stronger. It's a good thing not to answer your enemies." ~Frances Hodgson Burnett, A Little Princess

"The truth is, unless you let go, unless you forgive yourself, unless you forgive the situation, unless you realize that the situation is over, you cannot move forward." ~Steve Maraboli

"I used to think that if I left out details, that people could relate more, but I don't think that's the case. The more you let people in, the more they feel let in, and the more they feel like we all share something." ~Taylor Swift

"I gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which I must stop and look fear in the face. I say to myself, 'I've lived through this. I can take the next thing that comes along.'" ~Eleanor Roosevelt

Hmm, I really like that first quote. Let's see...

One of the more serious ones I've stumbled onto is this: "I went one evening into a dressing room in the twilight to procure some article that was there; when suddenly there fell upon me without any warning, just as it came out of the darkness, a horrible fear of my own existence..It was as though something hitherto solid within my breast gave way entirely, and I became a mass of quivering fear. After this the universe was changed for me altogether. I woke morning after morning with a horrible dread at the pit of my stomach, and with a sense of the insecurity of life that I never knew before and that I have never felt since. It was like a revelation…for months I was unable to go out into the dark alone. In general I dreaded to be left alone. I remember wondering how other people could live, how I myself had lived, so unconscious of that pit of insecurity beneath the surface of life." - William James

It's not really a quote about stuff, but recently had an episode like that and I just felt awful so it was comforting to find someone else felt that way.

Some of the shorter ones are:

"Children begin by loving their parents. After a time they judge them. Rarely, if ever, do they forgive them. "
"I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires."

I have quotes for days B-)

"Your sacred space is where you can find yourself again and again." ~ Joseph Campbell
"I can't", is a coward. "I'll try", is a soldier. "I will", is a king.

I really like the quotes that are used in my signature at the bottom.

This is more along the lines of what I'm feeling right now though.

"Well yeah, and I'm sad, but at the same time I'm really happy that something could make me feel that sad. It's like, it makes me feel alive, you know? It makes me feel human. And the only way I could feel this sad now is if I felt somethin' really good before. So I have to take the bad with the good, so I guess what I'm feelin' is like a, beautiful sadness."

Wow. That describes exactly how I felt at one point in my life, except for the fear of going into the dark. It was one of the lowest points for me. Ever... That's so strange, but it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who has episodes like that! I'm definitely going to steal that one. :)

Yeah. Agree 100% about the not being afraid of the dark. It just felt so weird, like a gaping hole that had been covered up with a thin veil of leaves like in the cartoons. Like, how did I not see this, ever, in all my musings about myself, life and the interaction between those two things? Was a creepy feeling. Can't say I'm 100% over it, just try to distract myself from that gaping abyss for the most part. I guess I don't know what it is I'm supposed to do to be okay with the void. O_- But yeah, knowing someone else sees the abyss makes it a little better.

Also! More quotes!
"Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results."
“We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are.”
“But better to be hurt by the truth than comforted with a lie.”
“Life isn’t divided into genres. It’s a horrifying, romantic, tragic, comical, science-fiction cowboy detective novel. You know, with a bit of pornography if you're lucky.” <~ Lol.
“The more I see, the less I know for sure.”

Interesting. For me, the whole thing just confused me. That quote really put it into perspective, though. Half the time when I woke up I was like, "Why is this happening? What's going on?" Now that I think about it, it's just like all of deepest, darkest fears were manifested in one fell swoop. I'm not 100% over it, either. I've learned to control it for the most part. Every once in a while, I'll wake up with that old familiar feeling of dread. But I can recognize it now. I can recognize it so clearly, and I immediately force myself to think about other things. It's strange, but it does help. I think I'm stronger because of it.

What's weird is that I have no idea why it happened, or why it happened to me in particular. Up until now, I've never met anyone who's gone through the same thing!

Exactly!

I dunno, it's a horrible feeling. If I sense it coming and get away fast enough, I'm all good. But if I start entertaining the thoughts, the fear, the immense, overwhelming "doom" feeling that starts seeping into every thought, hope and dream, I can get depressed for days and it gets awful. People start asking if I'm okay and what I'm thinking and I just look at them, mouth hanging open like there's no way to express everything that involves the entire feeling without it taking years and that's only if I can find a way to express the drowning depth and faith-shaking hopelessness.

And with that, I need to go do something positive and happy... lol. >_>;

Go placidly amidst the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for there will always be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe; no less than the trees and the stars, you have the right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labours and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with your soul. With all its sham drudgery and broken dreams it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

(these are all lyrics. i thought it said "song quotes" in the title)

"You burst on the scene already a legend
The unwashed phenomenon
The original vagabond"

"I just want to feel real love, feel the home that I live in
'cause I got too much life, running through my veins, going to waste
I just want to feel real love, in a life everafter
there's a hole in my soul, you can see it in my face its a real big place"

"You can be anything you want to be
Just turn yourself into anything you think that you could ever be
Be free with your tempo, be free, be free
Surrender your ego, be free, be free
to yourself"

"He used to say soulshine
its better than sunshine
better than moonshine
damn sure better than rain
hey now people don't mind
we all feel this way sometime
you gotta let your soul shine
shine till the break of day"

“While wandering a deserted beach at dawn, stagnant in my work, I saw a man in the distance bending and throwing as he walked the endless stretch toward me. As he came near, I could see that he was throwing starfish, abandoned on the sand by the tide, back into the sea. When he was close enough I asked him why he was working so hard at this strange task. He said that the sun would dry the starfish and they would die. I said to him that I thought he was foolish. there were thousands of starfish on miles and miles of beach. One man alone could never make a difference. He smiled as he picked up the next starfish. Hurling it far into the sea he said, "It makes a difference for this one." I abandoned my writing and spent the morning throwing starfish.”

In case you've never read anything written by LM Montgomery - you shold. "It has always seemed to me, ever since early childhood, that, amid all the commonplaces of life, I was very near to a kingdom of ideal beauty. Between it and me hung only a thin veil. I could never draw it quite aside, but sometimes a wind fluttered it and I caught a glimpse of the enchanting realm beyond—only a glimpse—but those glimpses have always made life worth while."
