I have this tendency of liking eccentric, tragic characters the most and I was wondering if this was a common theme among INFPs or whether that was just me.

You can list as many characters as you like and they can be from any source of fiction.
These character can be ones that you fancy, relate to or simply enjoy watching.
If you like you can add their MBTI type to see if there is any correlation there too (e.g. I have a tendency to like INTJ characters).

Okay I'll start.

My absolute favourite is Edward Nygma (ENTP) - Batman Universe
Grima Wormtongue (INTP) - Lord of the Rings
Claude Frollo (INTJ) - The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Loki (INFJ) - Marvel Universe
Commodus (ENFJ) - Gladiator
Wheatley (ENFP) - Portal 2
Gul Dukat (ExTx) - Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

I don't know their personality types off-hand, but some of my favourite characters include:

Aragorn (LotR)
Eowyn (LotR)
Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter)
Willow (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
Tara (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
Fred (Angel)
Illyria (Angel)
River Tam (Firefly/Serenity)

So yeah, I do tend to like eccentric, tragic characters.

Wormtongue was an INTP? That's brilliant
I'm afraid to say it is mostly my speculation. A few threads have posted him as INTJ and an INFP but I though INTP was more accurate. He doesn't possess the stereotypical self-confidence of an INTJ nor does he have the stereotypical idealism of an INFP. Though he isn't as honest as most INTPs, he does possess their analytical streak as well as their need for privacy.

Thanks you so much for leaving a comment LiamTolstoy and dreamlore, it means a lot.

Whiskeyjack (Malazan: Book of the Fallen)
Tyrion Lannister (Game of Thrones)

Jarl Balgruuf from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is my favorite right now. He's probably the only authority figure in the game who doesn't fall victim to the black and white mentality (I'm looking at you, Ulfric!) - plus, he's nice to the player character. Now if you don't mind, I've got a city to keep.

Honorable mentions:
- Peter Quill, Guardians of the Galaxy
- Han Solo, Star Wars
- Aragorn, Lord of the Rings
- Pretty much any original characters I've created
- A lot more that have currently slipped my mind

I love Tyrion! I haven't read the books but Peter Dinklage's performance is astounding and his lines are so well written.
Do you have a favourite iteration of Conan the Barbarian?

I served under Balgruuf the Greater when I played Skyrim, I haven't played Skyrim for a while but I agree with what you wrote about him.

I'm drawn to chaotic or neutral (logics over everything) characters. There's a feeling of escape with not caring about order or feelings.

Deadpool
The sword from baldur's gate 2
Abed from Community
Alton brown from cutthroat kitchen (his hosting is so different from his real self that I'm counting it as a character)
Calvin and Hobbes
Garrus from mass effect
Data from Star Trek tng

I don't know the types of my favorite characters I've seen a few of them typed as a few different things. So IF i remember what I saw them typed as I'll include it, either way maybe someone else knows!

Dexter Morgan (INFP) - Dexter (yes, I saw him typed as an INFP in a few places.)
Wilfred ( ?? ) - Wilfred
Gambit ( ?? ) - X-men
Odd Thomas ( I'd guess INFP/INFJ ) - Odd Thomas *the movie*
Sylvanas (??) - Warcraft
Rorschach (saw him said to be INFJ, I didn't really see that but yeah.) - The Watchmen
Castiel (??) - Supernatural
Monroe (??I'd guess INTJ maybe) - Grimm
Adam DeVine (??) - Workaholics
Riddick (??) - Pitch Black/ Chronicles of Riddick
John Constantine ( ?? ) - Constantine
Jon Snow (Seen INFJ again not sure why exactly he could be! I just don't see why) - Game of Thrones
Tyrion Lannister (??) - Game of Thrones
Shawn Spencer (??) - Psych

I like tragic, flawed characters too, maybe misunderstood/misjudged, but they also have to be ultimately good! A lot of the characters I like best have some qualities, flaws or issues that I can easily emphasize with, but also have qualities I deeply admire, but don't posses myself. And yes, they are usually the main characters, ahm, which is probably why I have a hard time reading/finishing books where the protagonist doesn't appeal to me at all, isn't good underneath whatever exterior they might put on, and just doesn't have any redeeming traits.

Bruce Wayne (as in the Christian Bale version)
Robin Hood (as in the BBC Series)
Hamlet
Ned (Pushing Daisies)
Richard Cypher (Legend of the Seeker)
The Doctor (mainly tenth Doctor, and those before him)
Rose Tyler
DI Alec Hardy (Broadchurch)
Eragon (Book version!)
Odd Thomas (Book version)
Percy Jackson
Arn Magnusson
Gabriel (Secret Sacrament)
Fitzwilliam Darcy
Frodo
Castiel (Supernatural)
Uhtred of Bebbanburg (Saxon Stories)
Harry Potter (Book version!)
Dexter Morgan (Highly unusually for me!)

That was a few of them, probably the most prominent ones anyway.

Unsure of the typology for these characters, but here goes;

Rin Tezuka (INTP)- Katawa Shoujo
Chandler Bing (ENTP)- Friends
Laura Palmer (ENFP?)- Twin Peaks: Fire, Walk With Me
Lisbeth Salander- Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
Iago (INTJ?)- Othello
Tyrion Lannister (ENTP)- GoT
Fiver (INFJ?)- Watership Down
Dale Cooper (INFJ)- Twin Peaks
Misty Day (INFP)- AHS: Coven

There are plenty more, I'm sure, but that's all I can think of at the top of my head.
