Some of you might not like this, but I'm only going to have one option. The question is what drives you? Although the emotion might not always be sustained, we all have a worldview of sorts that inspires us to be the best person we can be. Best, of course, is a relative term. What's best is subjective to each individual person. While some might believe there are objective measurements for life success, those metrics cannot be forced on us. Thus, or happiness is subjective based on our personal values in life. These values can be altruistic, but they might be self-absorbed too. Either way, we all have something that drives us, even if it doesn't seem like anything.

Added: I made this poll anonymous so can you could be honest.

Babes, booze & bullets

Myself, in terms of accomplishments/goals. I was going to mention things regarding graduate studies again , but maybe accomplishments encompass things better.

Fear and impossible dreams are the two things that drive me most.

I have clear visions of the life I want for myself. They're not possible to achieve and I know this but for some reason, I'm not able to bring my desires down to Earth. So I'm forced to do my best every day and keep trying to chase them.

Fear of ending up broke and alone also motivates me.

I'm not sure. I voted "family," and I do believe relationships are just about the most important things in life, where we can get the most happiness from.

Another big drive for me is just deeper meaning: always searching for it, trying to grasp some aspect of it, in any area of life no matter the scale.

Hmmmm. Well living is actually good. XD some people complain how the world sucks but there's a lot of good things this world 🌍 can offer too if you look at the brighter side. XD
What drives me is it's like it's developing new experiences i guess?! Because the world is so big i wanna discover it all. XD and given an average year of man, 70years, then i think it's not impossible to discover every good thing this world 🌍 can offer. XD

The world, though I'm not interested in giving everything to everyone I meet. I'm interested in giving the most I can in the greatest way that I can, which doesn't involve reckless, short-sighted behavior.

I guess, faith. There are plenty of activities I enjoy, and principles I value. But without the belief that any of it even matters/makes an impact, I wouldn't see a point in even trying. I feel as though, without faith, everything would be subjective and thus it would make no difference if I tried to beat someone up or give to the needy.

Hiiii Parrot I saw your post in the Skype chat and came over to give my comments :)

For me it is a mixture of faith and altruism. I receive messages from the world telling me that I am here on this planet for a very important reason. My duty is to spread ancient wisdom, bring about world peace, give kindness to others and to help others to the best of my abilities. I enjoy being reliable and always doing whatever I can to help others. I also like sharing my knowledge with others and giving sermons and teaching how we can fulfilling our truest potentials and live our best lives.

Ultimately Faith...
While wrestling with my natural inclination of Myself...
Working itself out as "I don't know" how to submit myself (Fi-dom) fully...
which sometimes befuddles me to "Just go through the motions".

I'm grappling with the concept of existence and how much meaning it has which affects my answers. There's a few options that I see before me:
* We simply exist.
* What is before me and others is merely a figment of my imagination or failure in my perception of reality.
* There isn't an answer we can truly understand.

This makes me lean a bit away from Faith or "hedonism".

My general motivations are a hunger for understanding, knowledge, and the happiness of my friends and family.

I say I don't know but I wonder if I really do know...
I just sort of live because Im afraid not to. Im afraid that maybe there is something in the future that is worth believing in and that I may one day find what makes me happy. Im afraid that if I cut things short, I wouldn't find out what it is. I guess its a deep rooted optimism that drives me.
Until then, I guess I just "go through the motions" of life. I really hope for my sake that it's all worth it in the end.

The universe

My drive is to understand as much about the universe as possible and learn in the process. On a less broad level I'd say that clarity or a perception of being able to gain clarity is very motivational for me, although clarity may in some instances be either temporary or completely illusive.

Well my faith keeps me living, but if you mean what gets me up in the morning, I'm talking food, fam.

Not listed in the poll, but my driving force is the desire for knowledge.

The closest option was the world, but it doesn't really apply to the whole world, nor do I think of it in terms of altruism. Truly doing what is best for others is intimately connected with self-interest. I suspect that altruism has become little more than an alluring concept people use to feel good about themselves and perhaps fill the void left by the lack of natural and geniune mutual concern.

Creation is my purpose

The world is a theatre with a myriad of entertainment

So I voted that I live for myself
