Are you saying that internet is the new TV?the internet is a means of badgering people into buying things they don't need (aka advertising)
it's also a means of mass control of perceptions through selective news reports
I completely disagree. It is the first, real, uncensored, and anonymous democratic voice. Or at least relatively speaking over real life.the internet is a means of badgering people into buying things they don't need (aka advertising)
it's also a means of mass control of perceptions through selective news reports
Behold, the Internet. And is it normal to be paranoid about it....
have you logged into facebook recently and seen the targeted ads based on things you click on ?Are you saying that internet is the new TV?![]()
have you read a US yahoo news report recently ?I rarely see ads (firefox plugins block 99% of them) and haven't been "controlled" by any selective news report. There is so many resources available and opinions online that its hard to sort through them all let alone claim that its a form of "mass control."
“There will be, in the next generation or so, a pharmacological method of making people love their servitude, and producing dictatorship without tears, so to speak, producing a kind of painless concentration camp for entire societies, so that people will in fact have their liberties taken away from them, but will rather enjoy it, because they will be distracted from any desire to rebel by propaganda or brainwashing, or brainwashing enhanced by pharmacological methods. And this seems to be the final revolution.”The internet is big brother and big brother is us. i.e. youtube, facebook, googles, intellius, peoplefwalmart.com, etc.
The internet is the end of any resemblance of privacy for human beings.
The internet is the greatest time-waster ever invented.
The internet is the latest in a long list of mind programming tools for humans.
The internet is fun. <- - - wheeee.
The internet is the future, past, present all easily accessible.
have you logged into facebook recently and seen the targeted ads based on things you click on ?"
...Facebook-Statistics-2010.jpg
"Spending on Internet advertising continues to rise but slowed once in its history. The amount of money that has been spent on Internet advertising continues to rise and has since its inception in 1994, with the exception of a downturn from 2000 to 2002 after the Internet bubble burst."
1995: $37 million
1996: $301 million
1997: $650 million
1999: $4.6 billion
2000: $8.1 billion
2002: $6 billion
2004: $9.6 billion
2006: $16.9 billion
2007: Estimated $20-21 billion
How is that a form of control? I see it as a single news source amongst a plethora of other sources. You are free to get your news source from anywhere you want OR you can simply ignore the news all together. Its not control if you willingly submit to it.have you read a US yahoo news report recently ?
it's usually "US army bombs target X in Pakistan, Y people killed, some may have had ties to terror networks" and three quarters of the comments are "yeah, kill the towel-heads"
Guys it's a trap! Isn't it obvious? WWW is THREE Ws! We are currently in World War Three as we speak! In a literal sense, the Internet is the infrastructure, developed by the US military during the Cold War, which is used by the World Wide Web, which was developed in the early 1990s.
I don't think anyone should need to be paranoid about either the Internet or the WWW, but it is wise to be safe when using it.
