I am actually new here, so i would like to gain understanding of how this forum goes. Because it is still a bit overwhelming for me.
@BranchMonkey have given me sub forums to start with. So i would like to know how other members think?

Check this out for categories and snag the one that leaps out.

Topics of Interest

My personal recommendations:

Psychology

Critical Thinking & Phiolosophy

Science & Technology

Health & Fitness (there is a motivation thread in there for those of us who exercise; if you do exercise, share--it helps the rest of us stay on track, or 'all' of us get through injuries and illness, then back on track, et cetera.)

Plus to see what people think is worth mentioning:

What Are You Thinking About?
Books, Movie, Music Reviews which is more than simply "Reviews."

Finally, play some games especially share in, look over past responses to "Random Questions."

You are welcome to come to my Home Page, go see where I've been for Latest Posts and see if anything looks interesting.

Hope any of this is useful.

Mafia is a fun way to see the various personalities in action. We'll be running short games through the holidays, and signups start Monday for a newbie game to run after the first of the year.

... not that I'm biased, or anything, heh.

I'll echo games and health&fitness as good icebreakers. If you're interested in theory speculation, the various personality subforums are good for that.

You can look at the subforums, talk to some of the people on here, take personality tests that are posted on here, post whatever comes to your mind onto whatever thread, find what personality type you are if you care enough to do that, and other things. I wish you luck here.
My level of interest in each part of this forum depends on what discussions are going on, and also on the opinions shared in those discussions at a given moment in time.

I actually don't find typology forums particularly useful as a means of learning about typology. There are a few posters whose thoughts make my time here worthwhile, but it's mostly the same old Harold Grant/Enneagram swill that gets passed around. It's better to read Psychological Types and/or Gifts Differing if you want an in-depth look into typology, and even a good MBTI test will give you a more accurate result for your type than most forumgoers would. I just don't know how all these "alternate" personality models caught on with internet denizens so much, even though it's the four dichotomies which have the most solid evidence.

As for the other sections of this forum, they're basically just ok. There are some interesting discussions, some really inane discussions, and some people venting about their lives because they can't find anyone to listen to them. Much like most other internet forums, I guess.
I see lots of snowflakes here, I bring my popcorn along
How passionate people can be about things I really don't care about. Quality entertainment. Popcorn recommended.

Emergency dentists make their best money, so they say, from people who eat popcorn and get it stuck between their teeth, so I recommend pretzels--the yogic kind, before and after any Internet venture. I am about to log off, ride home (passenger seat) and follow my own advice.
