All. There are no correlations for types between the two systems - a lot of people believe there are, and some people even believe that types have to be a type in the second system entirely (i.e., all INFPs must be Fours). The trend for Fours, however, appears to be any of the IxFx types, and some ENFPs as well.

Yeah...I've seen alot of 4s who are ENFP(including me) or INFP, but it's not indefinite

I suspect I may be one of those as well.

EDIT: This is so insanely me:

Social/Sexual Four

This is overall the "lightest" type Four when it comes to social interaction. They are likely to utilize charm and humor. This type is more scattered and can be down right disorganized. They can drift through life always feeling like an outsider, yet they usually have friends. They can alternate from being the life of the party to withdrawing. Intimates will know of their insecurities and dark moody side while acquaintances will see a softer, friendlier side. This subtype’s energy is geared towards people, but they never feel as though they really fit in. They are often quite creative, talented people who have many interests, but they frequently lack the energy to actually accomplish what they would like. They can drift and withdraw very easily. When healthy and with the right support from friends (and perhaps a little push) they tap into their instinctual energy. When they do this, they begin to see how much they can accomplish. A positive connection to others helps them stay focused.

I tend to think there are some trends, but no definite correlations. As mentioned, INFPs & ISFPs are commonly 4s, along with INFJs. ENFPs, ENFJs & ESFPs are occasionally 4s, but more likely a 3 with a 4 wing. Other types are rarely 4s.

I honestly admit that I suspect a mistyping when a person who claims an MBTI type has an enneagram that seems at "odds" with their type. I think an INFP 6 is most likely an ISFJ, or an INFP who is a 9 and mistyped their enneagram. I've never seen an INFP who is an 8 and I'd be pretty skeptical of it....

I think I am going to make a thread to see what types people associate with each enneagram - just for fun :proud:

I also tend to think similar, there are trends INFP ISFP INFJ that are commonly 4's. I agree with alot of points you made and i think ill expand some of them with my own opinions.

The thing is IMO, that some of the ennagram types would clash with some of the MBTI types. Say, for instance your a ENTP type 4. (main function Ne) Okay your a thinking type, not a feeling type right? as a type 4 myself looking at this, i dont understand how a dominant or secondary Thinking function (weather Te or Ti) could build their identity around their feelings if Feeling (weather Fe or Fi) is not their main or secondary function. It dosent make sense to me. Even if you are a very healthy 4 (with either a 5 wing or 3 wing) and you know that your feelings dont represent who you are, Feeling is still either your dominant or secondary function regardless. I guess i could see maybe if the ENTP was maybe close to being a ENXP, they have always been close to being a Feeler.

 I suppose that could be all wrong though, every person believes what they want to i guess.

I've only ever tested as an INFP as far as MBTI goes... When I first took the Enneagram I tested as a 4w5. I identified with a lot of the description but not all. And honestly, I didn't want to be a 4w5. I just didn't like what I read even though I identified with much of it...

Then I read somewhere that 9's are often mistyped as 4's. So I took the test again and came out as a 9w1...so I took it again to be sure and tested as a 9w1 again. I also really identified with that... At this point I'm not sure what's accurate. I liked 9 better...so I stuck with it. I see parts of myself in all of them though.

Just to be clear, i dont mean my last post to be an attack on anyone  Like i said, everyone believes what they want to, there is nothing wrong with that. In fact its one of my beliefs i consider very important.
I agree with Grey in that there's no real correlation between MBTI and Enneagram. There are "trends," like that a lot of INFPs indentify with Type 4, but it's not definite.

May I ask why a mistype is "likely" if the MBTI and Enneagram doesn't match up perfectly? I'm curious as an INFP Six; I've also noticed the INFP Five thread. I don't think I've mistyped myself in either (I've always scored as an INFP or INxP, rarely as IxxP), but maybe someone could eleborate a little more? Sky, are you saying that the Heart Triad (or just Type 4?) goes against the Thinking functions? I understood it as Thinking isn't non-emotional, just more rational. I know plenty of T types who have strong emotions that influence their decisions.

I never said or meant that things should match up "perfectly". yes i think type 4 goes against Ti and Te>Yes they have emotions that go with their thoughts, but its not the driving force. Thats what im looking at, obviously just because you have emotions about your decisions dosent make you a type 4. Im looking at the dominant behavior.

i'm an entp 4 but idk my wing.
I'm an ENFP and 4w5.
You are the ONLY 4w5 ENFP I've ever heard of! :D (besides me)

Isn't it like...an impossible combination or something?
I think I'm having an identity crisis...when I originally found out about the Enneagram I immediately knew that I was a 4. I've also taken a bunch of different MBTI tests and have gotten ISFJ.

Are there inherent clashes between those two results?

Also, brainheart that social/sexual thing you quoted sounds like me also! What exactly is that subtype thing about anyway?

I'm new by the way, hi everyone!

I'm an ISFJ. I've taken the ennegram test more than once (at different points in my life). I started out as type 5 but the result I've gotten the most is type 4.
I'm an INFP and 4w5 sp/sx.
I am an INTP and I am either a 4w5 or 5w4.
