How come no one else wants to answer this question?

It may give us a clue as to what movies, or tv shows, to watch next with your loved ones.

I've noted this elsewhere, but the "What are you listening to?" thread has me convinced that personal taste is an independent variable from personality type. Friend and I had very different personalities, very different politics, very different attitudes to life, but we shared a like for M.C. Escher and the TV show Jeeves and Wooster from the BBC. We both liked classical music, but I like the light and fluffy stuff like Mozart and Handel and she liked the heavy, depressing stuff like Mahler. So you never know.

This is due to a difference in culture. Dario Nardi talks about the importance of culture (Skip to 42min on this interview.)

Otherwise I have no reason to believe that most INTJs would not resonate with the scientist and the witch/wizard archetype.

Now I'm adding Contact (1997 American film) before Arrival (2016) to the list with INTJ scientist protagonist Dr. Ellie Arroway (Jodie Foster).

Also pretty much all the best movies with Jodie Foster such as The Accused (1988 film) where she got an Oscar is a probably a must see (though I haven't watched it yet.)

Eve Harrington in the The Wisdom of Eve is actually INTJ with an ENFJ persona.

Resonate with, perhaps, like, perhaps not. For example, I thought the first Harry Potter movie was interesting, not great, but interesting, but every one of them after that was just a rehash of the first one and I didn't care for any of them. My sister (not an INTJ) loved that TV show Mr. Merlin while I couldn't stand it. No scientists or wizards in Network, and no one else in my family cares for that movie, but I think it's freaking brilliant. I can't think of any INTJ's in that movie except maybe the little old man with white hair who dies halfway through, that Howard Beale wails, "Woe is us!" about. The executive producer who terrifies Beale into promoting the corporate line? Trying to think of the actor's name without looking it up. Ned Beatty. Had to look it up. Probably more ENTJ.

Well, there is clearly no NTJ protagonist I can think of in Harry Potter. The mob who is pushing Severus Snape as INTJ are either incompetent or have an agenda. The only character I like is Hermione Granger (ESTJ). The main character in Network (1976 film), Diana Christensen, interestingly is ENTJ.

Here are some of my absolute favourites. These are movies I can rewatch every now and then, just can't get enough. I'll summarize why I like them in short.

Gone girl (INTJ psychopath character)
Anything by Tarantino (Dialogue is just so good)
Ex Machina (AI and androids, think the movie for the most part only uses 3-4 actors which is brilliant)
David Lynch (I think some of his stuff can be a bit pretentious, but the psychological horror is up there. I haven't watched all of his movies, but I intend to go on a spree soon)
The Big Lebowski (Embrace the enneagram 9)
No Country for Old Men (INTJ hitman who believes everything is predetermined)
There Will Be Blood (It's slow and weird)
Donnie Darko (Classic weirdness)
The Fountain (Trippy)

There's more scrambling around in here, but this is what came out.

So great that you answer this question @ai.tran.75 ! Thanks so much, I'll probably enjoy 'Eternal sunshine of the Spotless Mind' since science fiction is high on my list of favourite genres and it sounds like one of the greatest movie of 21st century that I totally omitted to watch..

In the past, I never really enjoyed Charlie Chaplin so Modern Time is probably not for me but I'll definitely check 'Requiem for a Dream' and 'Inherit the Wind'.

I skipped 'Ex Machina' and should really watch it at some point with 'The Fountain'. Many people list 'The Big Lebowski' as one of their favourite. Haven't watched it yet.

'There Will Be Blood' and 'Donnie Darko' sound weird and interesting as you said.

Jason Bateman is INTJ and he tends to specialise in comedies. Game Night is one of his best movie and the main characters are an INTJ / ENFP duo.

He believes that his own sense of humour stems from his mum. "My mother was hugely responsible for giving me my sense of humour because that above-all-else-do-not-embarrass-yourself John Cleese thing is deep inside me."

Game Night (2018)
