To find your subtype first take this test and list your cognitive functions in order

Step 1. Take the test.

Keys 2 Cognition - Cognitive Processes

Step 2. Put your personal order of cognitive functions in order.
My order is Fi,Ne,Ti,Si,Fe,Te,Ni,Se.

Step 3. Next copy and paste the list below of types by cognitive functions:

All of the possible combinations are:
ESFJ=Fe, Si, Ne, Ti
ESFP=Se, Fi, Te, Ni
ENTP=Ne, Ti, Fe, Si
ENTJ=Te, Ni, Se, Fi
ENFJ=Fe, Ni, Se, Ti
ENFP=Ne, Fi, Te, Si
ISTJ=Si, Te, Fi, Ne
ISTP=Ti, Se, Ni, Fe
ESTP=Se, Ti, Fe, Ni
ESTJ=Te, Si, Ne Fi
INTJ=Ni, Te, Fi, Se
INTP=Ti, Ne, Si, Fe
INFP=Fi, Ne, Si, Te
ISFJ=Si, Fe, Ti, Ne
ISFP=Fi, Se, Ni, Te
INFJ=Ni, Fe, Ti, Se

Step 4. Next, delete the types that have your last four either first or second.

Step 5. Then, delete those that do not have one of your top four in them.

Here is mine:

If my function in order are Fi,Ne,Ti,Si,Fe,Te,Ni,Se. That narrows it down to only those that do not have Fe, Te, Ni, Se first or second and has Fi, Ne, Ti, or Si in the top four. That leaves:

ENTP=Ne, Ti, Fe, Si (missing Fi)
ENFP=Ne, Fi, Te, Si (missing Ti)
INTP=Ti, Ne, Si, Fe (missing Fi)
INFP=Fi, Ne, Si, Te (missing Ti)

Step 6. Next stack together those that are missing the same letters like this:

ENTP=Ne, Ti, Fe, Si (missing Fi)
INTP=Ti, Ne, Si, Fe (missing Fi)

or
INFP=Fi, Ne, Si, Te (missing Ti)
ENFP=Ne, Fi, Te, Si (missing Ti)

Step 7. Then refer back to your order of functions...my function in order are Fi,Ne,Ti,Si,Fe,Te,Ni,Se.

Step 8. Finally pick one from each stack that fits the order the closest.
For example, INTP has a Ti that is too high for my order. So ENTP fits better.
ENFP fits well but I has a Te which is in my last four functions higher than the INFP. I also do not fit the ENFP silly switch descriptions and INFP is my primary type so I know it has to be this one of the two.

So I am INFP for my primary and ENTP for my subtype. If you want verification as to which one is primary and which one is your subtype, try http://personalitycafe.com/whats-my-personality-type/7581-hollys-tip-finding-your-type.html

What is your primary and subtype?

Primary: INFP Subtype: INTP

I always knew I had an NT in me! :proud:

Edit: My first four functions were Fi, Ti, Ne, Ni; that makes a lot of sense to me, but maybe I would substitute Ni for Si.

Hmmm, okay:

extraverted Sensing (Se) (26)
introverted Sensing (Si) (18.7)
extraverted Intuiting (Ne) (48.2)
introverted Intuiting (Ni) (25.8)
extraverted Thinking (Te) (28.8)
introverted Thinking (Ti) (40.2)
extraverted Feeling (Fe) (21.7)
introverted Feeling (Fi) (31)

So: Ne, Ti, Fi, Te, Se, Ni, Fe, Si

(few minutes of calculations later)

Shocking, my subtype is ENFP :tongue:

Interesting game.... will be fun to see who gets non-obvious subtypes. I've thought of a subtype like scenario where you take your second highest perceiving function and second highest judging function and match it to the closest type pattern (For example, if the second highest perceiving is Ni and the second highest judging is Te, and Ni>Te, that would be an INTJ subtype. Likewise is Fi here were highest judging and Ni>Fi then it would still be INTJ.) I'd be a ISFP subtype on this test, but on the CF test here I'd be a clear INTJ subtype.

Um...if I did this right, ISFP with ENFJ subtype. ESFP has Te too close to the top (it's in my bottom four) and INFJ has Ti too close to the top (also bottom four).

ISFP and ENFJ both have Ni and Se, which are in my top four, Fi is my highest function and Fe is also in my top four.

Type: ISFP

Subtype: ENFJ

Cool story, bro.

Te Ti Ni Ne Si Fe Se Fi > If I've done this right, the subtype should be ENTJ (which is what the cognitive functions test claimed I was anyway).
So what is the advantage of finding the subtype?

It would mean as an INTP you might have more in common with ENTJs, than say, INFPs. While another INTP might relate most to INFPs or ISTPs or something.

I'm guessing it helps to explain individual differences in type, going by your *actual preferred functions* as opposed to the function order assigned to each of the types.

I think mine is interesting because it would absolutely confirm being an ISFP over an ESFP. I am a clear Fi type who rejects both T functions, and has Fe in my top four as well. It also means I'm closer to seeming "INFJ-ish" (like ISFPs can do with tertiary Ni) than "ENTJ-ish" (which ESFPs can do with tertiary Te).

If you want to double check at the end then expand part 7. Like this:

Here is mine:

Step 7. Then refer back to your order of functions...my function in order are Fi,Ne,Ti,Si,Fe,Te,Ni,Se. So add the number in your order to the numbers in the type's order. The ones that are close to numerical order are you and the scrambled one is not.

ENTP=Ne, Ti, Fe, Si (missing Fi) (2, 3, 5, 4)
INTP=Ti, Ne, Si, Fe (missing Fi) (3, 2, 4, 5) (see this one is scrambled so its not me.)

or
INFP=Fi, Ne, Si, Te (missing Ti) (1, 2, 4, 6)
ENFP=Ne, Fi, Te, Si (missing Ti) (2, 1, 6, 4) (see this one is scrambled so its not me.)

So I am an INFP with an ENTP subtype.

The advantage of finding the subtype is being able to account for subtle differences in your personality that deviate from your primary type. I created it because I realized that my order of functions was out of the correct order for INFP and yet after studying the cognitive functions, the order was correct for me. Then I found that subtype accounts for the functions being out of order and yet in order at the same time...it is like the first two functions of your primary type and subtype are emphasized and the rest are still in somewhat of an order so that it narrows it down to only two types that fit your order of functions. Granted it is all dependent on you knowing yourself but when it comes to cognitive functions, you can usually remember ways you are smart and ways you are not because others have told you that you are either competent or incompetent in that area. So its easier to determine than introvert/extrovert for instance. It is really a way to verify your primary type even further and defines other tendencies that lie within your subtype. Subtype is just the other cognitive functions that will appear out of you randomly though not as strongly as your primary type's functions do.

It's looking like you are INTP subtype yes...also this is saying you could be either ENFP or INFP for your primary...so try Holly's tip to find out which it is...here is her link:

Also let us know what you get...

Your Type is
ESFP
Extraverted Sensing Feeling Perceiving

67 50 50 1 1

Going with the Holly's tip I would be an INTJ. I've gone through that stage of thinking I was an INTJ, but I have more of a Ti than a Te, and I realize that my Fe is why I am always so vague with my thoughts. This was interesting though.

Ni Ti Se Te

ESFJ=Fe, Si, Ne, Ti (missing Fi)
ISFJ=Si, Fe, Ti, Ne (missing Fi)
ENTP=Ne, Ti, Fe, Si (missing Fi)
INTP=Ti, Ne, Si, Fe (missing Fi)

INFP=Fi, Ne, Si, Te (missing Fe)
ENFP=Ne, Fi, Te, Si (missing Fe)
ISTJ=Si, Te, Fi, Ne (missing Fe)
ESTJ=Te, Si, Ne, Fi (missing Fe)

I almost broke my head doing this thing. Something to do with low Ti + Te?

What to do now?
