After my girlfriend broke up with my I went on a walk to do some thinking and, as I am always want to do, brought my ipod to shut out outside distractions while i soul searched. The song "I Will Possess Your Heart" by Death Cab for Cutie came on and I felt as if I were hearing it for the first time. The lyrics were so moving to me because they embodied exactly how I felt at the moment, so I really feel like Ben Gibbard "gets" me. I think he's at least a Fi dom. if not an INFP.

So I just got to thinking, what other musicians do you feel "get" what it's like to be an INFP?

Hah, I just heard that song recently too and loved it

For me though it is Matt Bellamy and Muse. I think Chris Hall of Stabbing Westward also 'gets' me. I think those two bands have had the strongest influence on me as far as feeling the lyrics and emotion of the songs.

Bright Eyes. Conor Oberst may be an ISFP though.
Bright Eyes gets a bad reputation as being emo but honestly the music is very heavy and intelligent.
Also Rilo Kiley. A better son/daughter is the most INFP song I've ever heard.

I love James Taylor, his lyrics are very touching. He seems to feel the same things and deal with the same sorrows as INFP's, after all he is one. The older I get the more I appreciate his songs and his message.

Long ago a young man sits and plays his waiting game
But things are not the same it seems as in such tender dreams
Slowly passing sailing ships and Sunday afternoon
Like people on the moon I see are things not meant to be

Where do those golden rainbows end?
Why is this song so sad?
Dreaming the dreams I've dreamed my friends
Loving the love I love

To love is just a word I've heard when things are being said
Stories my poor head has told me cannot stand the cold
And in between what might have been and what has come to pass
A misbegotten guess alas and bits of broken glass

Don't come to me with your sorrows anymore
I don't need to know
How bad you're feeling today
I declare I've had my share
And I've heard it all before
It's time for me to be stealing away
Let those rain clouds roll out on the sea
Let the sun shine down on me, hey, hey

Love has brought me around

When my sky was full of gray
And my day was full of blue
There was nothing I could do
To see myself through
Now my head is full of springtime
And my heart is full of you
Good-bye lonely blue
It shall all come true

Miss november I detect a frown
Close your eyes and turn it upside down

Love has brought me around

I know you know what
I've got to say it's an old cliche, anyway so they say

Love has brought me around

I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song
I just can't remember who to send it to

I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again

Won't you look down upon me, jesus
You've got to help me make a stand
You've just got to see me through another day
My body's aching and my time is at hand
And I won't make it any other way

Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again

Been walking my mind to an easy time my back turned towards the sun
Lord knows when the cold wind blows it'll turn your head around
Well, there's hours of time on the telephone line to talk about things
To come
Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground

Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you, baby, one more time again, now

When your down and troubled
And you need a helping hand
And nothing, whoa nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest nights.
You just call out my name,
And you know whereever I am
I'll come running, oh yeah baby
To see you again.
Winter, spring , summer, or fall,
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You've got a freind.
If the sky above you
Should turn dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud
And soon I will be knocking upon your door.
You just call out my name and you know where ever I am
I'll come running to see you again.
Winter, Spring, summer or fall
All you got to do is call
And I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Hey, ain't it good to know that you've got a friend?
People can be so cold.
They'll hurt you and desert you.
Well they'll take your soul if you let them.
Oh yeah, but don't you let them.
You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again.
Oh babe, don't you know that,
Winter Spring summer or fall,
Hey now, all you've got to do is call.
Lord, I'll be there, yes I will.
You've got a friend.
You've got a friend.
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend.

This doesn't really belong here but it is such a awesome song, the part where it shows the crowd always makes me cry, so beautiful. Where are the musicians like this nowadays?!

Fiona Apple. Amy Winehouse. I really feel they get me so well.
they understand me. specially fiona. Fiona's my girl :)) lol
But really? Courtney Love. But I think she's ENFP. My identification makes me doubt whether I'm INFP, ENFP, or plainly a trainwreck. :S

His music and lyrics always get to me. He's one of the Two Gallants and recently released a solo album.

I know I like my music intense.

For me it's TOOL. Their albums are like my private world. They are so introverted and deep. The metaphors and themes help me express a part of myself I don't think I will ever be able to show to other people.

I feel like Noel Gallagher (formerly ) of Oasis reaches into my head and pulls lyrics out. He's the only one I personally feel that way about.

Morrissey - with The Smiths & solo. When I am down, nothing soothes me quite like Morrissey's lyrics.

Also:
Robert Smith (The Cure)
Fiona Apple
Cat Power
William Reid (The Jesus & Mary Chain)
Ian Curtis (Joy Division)

I also like a lot of shoegazey and atmospheric music, where you can't quite make out the lyrics (maybe because there aren't any actual words being sung). When words fail, then the mood the music & vocals evoke works. Cocteau Twins & My Bloody Valentine are two which come to mind immediately.
